I've seen a review on TheeTube (my computer is old) and the person said his only 'problem' with the M1A1 was the plastic stock etc. Just wondering; have any of you folks filled yours with expanding foam, cheese, lead or anything else to 'deaden' it? Yeah, I filled my Tommy's hollow parts with modelling clay. Then weighed it and it ways the same as the real thing now.

I have had nothing wrong with mine Billy. I have even fully stripped it down and back again a few times to see how it works. I love mine. This is a beauty! It would be my next.

This rifle always reminds me of that TV show from way back in the day called Combat! Out of all the squad members had rifles, maybe one guy with a carbine but the Sargent always had M1A1 FA.
After that I would look at what each soldier would carry in any show or movies out of curiosity:)

Am I right in thinking that Vic Morrow was the unfortunate guy that was accidentally decapitated by a helicopter whilst filming in the jungle somewhere for a new feature film, it was a few years ago now, I think I was a teenager when it happened.

That's right Shaun. The helicopter suffered a fault and crashed into Morrow and a couple of kids killing them all. Morrow was decapitated. I remember my dad telling me about it when I was a teenager. Sad.

I was 9 when that aired. My parents used to let me stay up late to watch the series. I was completely in awe. It was a very sad day when he was tragically killed. The Christmas of ‘60 brought me a toy version of his Thompson. That was the day I stopped killing Apaches with my six guns and started killing Nazis with the machine gun in the local woods. Oh to be 10 again.

Helicopters are dangerous. It reminds me of a time in history where I was in what I thought was a dangerous situation. I was refueling a Rotors turning Puma in Salamanca, South Belize in the Jungle base I was stationed at as a lone RAF guy among ARMY and Special Forces. It then shut down it's engine which was not normal. I asked the crewman/winch operator what was going on and he said a problem had surfaced. The Tail rotor inspection hatch/flap had a failed catch and was opening under vibration. If this hatch opened in flight it would strike the tail rotor with catastrophic results in flight. The crewman/load master asked me if I had any bodge tape. I said yes I do. With that the crew. pilot and all got out and started wrapping bodge tape around the tail of the chopper enclosing the inspection hatch. After ten minutes they were satisfied that the job would hold out for the 300 mile ride back to the main airbase in the north. Now the funny thing was that I was getting on this chopper for a taxi ride back to main base for my weeks R&R. I was apprehensive to say the least. We took off for the long haul over the jungle canopy. About an hour into the flight the loadmaster was hanging out inspecting the tape. He signaled to the pilot to land asap. The pilot found a clearing in the jungle and landed quick. The crew and me got out again and re-applied some more tape over the stuff that had blown loose. We took off and eventually landed at main base. I was never so glad to walk into the Naafi bar for a drink in my life. Great experience. One week later I was flying back down south to my base in what was known as 'white knuckle airways' or the Belize airforce propeller plane, and that was another experience in itself to be told another day.

I should have collected my M1A1 on Monday but due to stuff I won't bore you with, I didn't. What makes it a tad worse is I sold stuff that I really didn't want too (guns) that made it possible for me to afford to buy it. Anyway; I 'should' be collecting it next week. In the meantime I would like anyone who has one or who has had one to tell me about them to make the journey and the recieving of the M1A1 so much better. P.S. You can't tell me anything that is already on TheeTube (my computer is old) because I've seen and digested it all.
Including the AAR On Air Review.
Go on...tell me what ya reckon to make me want it even more than I do (or not, if you don't like 'em)

With the (sometimes bad) luck I have I decided to go with new although that doesn't always bode well either! Damn you Umarex and your wobbly barrels!!!!!
Anyway; I ordered mine after firing a mates but as yet have to collect it from the Gun Shop. Logistics (and that thing called luck; see above) has prevented me from going to get it. Having said all that, it's at the shop, I just have to get it which I will soon.....sooooon I say (in the style of Hylda Baker which has nowt to do with guns but a lot to do with how I said 'soooooon')
Yep....it's bedtime and to quote a TV advert for a Vauxhall motor car from quite a few years ago......."Overtired" Night Night.
