Modski you NEED a wheelgun in your arsenal...... fetch boy, fetch ....... I have already got four! Webley MKVI, Dan Wesson 15-2, Python 6" and S&W 586. My intention was to get a Rhino, until the first owner comments started to roll in, and then I changed my mind. My DW 15-2 explained: co2-handguns.freeforums.net/thread/1023/got-wood-find-image-disturbing

I'll buy one of the Rhinos when the price drops to a fiver. And not before.

This time, I removed about 80% of the moly grease I had used earlier and instead I applied a fine graphite powder from a `puffer` tube, that I had lying around. No idea where it came from , it has been used occasionally for about 15 years. Every sliding part was dusted with the graphite powder on all sides, I also paid particular attention to the unusual hammer cocking/rotating piece and its actuating lug on the side of the rotary hammer....polishing the mating surfaces, then lubing with the graphite powder. You see that little oblong lug sticking out from the hammer, by my thumb nail. ... That is the part that is pushed on by a sliding arm in the trigger group to rotate and cock the rotary hammer. By polishing this small lug ( using a fine carborundum stick), and shortening the contact side by approx 3 thou of an inch, I got the trigger to trip the sear a fraction earlier in the d/a cycle. Thus turning the d/a trigger action into one very smooth action. All back together and WOW ! what a difference. The trigger action is now so smooth I can get 1"-1.5" groups every time...this was in a dim workshop with artificial light, and don`t forget this has a smooth bored barrel. So I am now very happy with the Chiappa Rhino and fitting a rifled varrel will now be worth the expenditure. So that will be next on the cards. Thank you for following this thread. If anyone would like full sized images of the inner workings I can send them by email etc. Pete. I'm curious, @flattrajectory, how would you go about fitting a rifled barrel to it?

Quite easy really....all of the replica pistols we buy have a removable inner barrel. Simply strip the gun down to gain access to the inner barrel .... Remove it, then using a donor rifled barrel from any other airgun, machine the rifled barrel down to the same dimensions ( not always necessary to be exact diameter, but length is important), then fit your new rifled barrel into the outer and reassemble. I have done several. Pete.

Well I was lucky enough to manage to pick up a Gold limited edition Chiappa Rhino 60DS from one of our members ( Doug Soal ) for a price that was hard impossible to refuse. Unfortunately it's an AS version but that can be remedied by our very own resident barrelsmith Modski66 . Now normally I really hate gold guns, no matter what they are they all just scream South American Drug Lord, so I was a bit reticent about getting it but there's something about a Chiappa Rhino that breaks the mould for what a normal revolver should be, as the Rhino is definitely not a normal revolver and as such can get away with being different from the 'norm'! When it first arrived and I opened the case, I was a bit taken back ! It's very GOLD (well it should be as it's been through a genuine 18kt gold plating process), but I was still a little bit, ' Have I done the right thing here ?' but once I removed it from the case and held it I realised that I had done the right thing. If any gun deserves to have such a gaudy, ostentatious finish then it's a Rhino for sure, with it's very ultra modern look, it's low bore axis cylinder and that overall practical design, the Chiappa Rhino carries the Gold finish so well that it's like it was born to be adorned with gold. As I fondled 'my precious' I realised that I was smiling, not just outwardly but inwardly too, this gun ranks right up there with a Nickel plated 6" Python, a blued S&W model 29, a stainless steel DW715 and a battle weary Webley mkVI, any other colour would just be so crass ! Now don't get me wrong I love my pinto (two tone) Charging Rhino 50DS, that's a lovely gun and another Rhino that doesn't hide it's light under a bushel, you can tell it's a Charging Rhino 'cos it's got it written across it in huge letters, no mistaking that then and then this Gold 60DS is in the same vein, there's no mistaking what it is. Hickok45 has a way of describing these types of gun, they're called 'BBQ guns', you sling one on your waist when you're at a Texas BBQ and it's a great talking point, let your mates run a few rounds through them, just a fancy gun for a fancy day. Love it or hate it but either way you're going to notice it, lol. So the very first BBQ in Texas I get invited to I've already got my gun sorted out, lol. Excuse the finger prints (I just can't help fondling it, lol), but once I get all the work done to it I'll set about cleaning it and using the good ol' R wax on it and then I'll take a few more pictures of it again, maybe with her sister too (the Chiappa 'Charging Rhino' 50DS).So next I'm planning on doing the SA trigger job to it, stripping the AS smoothbore barrel out and replacing it with a rifled 4.5mm version and once that's all done I'm going to get some shooting done with it. She's not going to be relegated to being a safe queen or being kept in the case, I plan on shooting the heck out of it that is until they finally get around to releasing a replica of the Chiappa Rhino 30DS in a Nebula finish that is !

I’ve given it a “like” because I’m being polite and you spent some time with its write-up. 😆

I’ve given it a like because it’s a lovely revolver, I was just apprehensive about using it. I am glad Shaun now has it, with a trigger job and new rifled barrel it will be an awesome piece. (That’s my opinion of course, but we all have different tastes, and I am glad we do.)👍

Once you've had a go on mine you'll all be tears & regret about getting rid of yours Seriously though, the only problem with the Rhino was the incredibly heavy SA trigger and now that's effectively been rectified (with a very simple modification) I honestly don't see that there's any problem with the gun ! Long live the Chiappa Rhino !

It would certainly be good to try the modified version. Time you got a trigger weight thingy.

I gave a like so that Shaun will remember me when he decides to move it on.
Yes, it's an ugly revolver. No one will want it. I'll do you a favour and take it off your hands! 😅
