From the top, Gen 5 heavily modded with precision 4.76mm cal, 9" barrel ( a bit too precision though)throat capacity doubled, up to 5 ft/lbs on a good day Gen 2 with silencer and rubber grips Gen 4 with silencer adapter Gen 1 with bakelite grips Gen 5 a few mods increasing the power to around 2 -2.5 ft lbs from 1 ft lbs when new (!!) Rubber grips are easily the best imo

I’m not denigrating his fine collection of Soviet weaponry but merely reflecting upon certain others made from the same implements. 😉 😂 that had previously featured 😜 😂

V nice! My T006 (no idea what Gen that is 🙈) is having the slide blued by Aaron Wheeler’s gunsmiths in Brighouse. I’ll post a pic when I get it back later this week.
It came to me with someone having tried to ‘polish’ it 🙄 and, through my own neglect, it had rusted since. I’m interested in what he makes of the sows ear I gave him.
He did comment that the steel was much harder than most so we’re in with a chance 🤞
I have no idea why I like these so much. I got rid of one but then had to replace it.

I have owned a few of the real steel Maks. Lovely to handle but I prefer the blowback version for my shooting fun. Great little pistols. Now I just have these two and I love them. The Stechkin Blowback and the Makarov blowback.

I’ve fancied picking one of those up, apparently it’s the same as the real mak, just co2 converted.

I've always classed the Baikal Maks as De-acts that you can still shoot, proper steel, , they'll still be here in 50 yrs whereas with the pot metal guns, it's only a matter of time.
My PPK/s has had to be repaired twice due to soft metal in the wrong places and should have been binned a long time age but I love a challenge

They are made in the same factory from the same materials. I love them. But they are not fun to shoot. Where as my blowback (pot metal) is very much fun to shoot and that is why I own co2 air guns.

You’ve put your finger on it. I wouldn’t be without a Baikal, but I’d rather shoot something else. I have a sleeve of lead bbs that I bought years ago and I’m still on my first tin.

Picked up my Mak today. Aaron Wheeler has pulled it out of the bag on this one! The amount of grinding done means it lost it matching serial number but what a result! As we’ve said, the quality of the metal gave him something to work with that lesser guns would not.

Looking great! I see you've got the genuine Makarov slide lock lever, very very rare.

Looking great! I see you've got the genuine Makarov slide lock lever, very very rare. I knew that. You thought I didn’t know that but knew that. No really I did. I so didn’t know that. I picked it up around a decade ago and know very little other than the usual about the build quality. And that slide spring! 🙈It's like Arkwright’s till! (Niche reference) How rare and what’s the significance? Is about being strong enough to retain the spring? Edit: How rare? You actually said it right there in post. Very, very. I guess my question was why is it so rare.
