Thank you for accepting me as a member.....although at the moment, I only own one replica, a TFW 1911 which I have 'distressed' to a quasi, battlefield finish. Up until about 3 years ago, I was quite an avid 'accumulator' of replica guns and must have had around 15 (mainly Umarex) at the peak of my enthusiasm. However, I reached the conclusion that most of them felt essentially the same to shoot and I became a bit bored. If I'd been aware of this forum at the time, things may have been different...... Subsequently, I sold them all (!) and decided that I would just concentrate on relatively inexpensive, 'real' air guns that had no pretence to be anything else. To this end, I bought a new Crosman 2240 and cheap, used examples of Crosman 1377 and Webley Tempests & Hurricanes. Most of these were in poor overall condition and I found both enjoyment and a realisation of a little expertise in restoring them. A few months back, I had an unexplained desire to have a 1911 blow-back pistol again and managed to source a virtually mint TFW example, which I then set about with sandpaper, wire wool and lots of elbow grease, achieving the exact opposite of my Webley restorations! Having noted the forum's excellent technical articles on the 1911, I'll no doubt be attempting to improve its accuracy/operation next! I'm currently 73 years old and fairly fortunate (!) in being protected from much wild spending on guns, by the limitations imposed by my State Pension and worryingly depleting savings! As well as guns/shooting, I've had an interest in guitars for 60 years and like to build/restore/repair them, whenever an opportunity arises. In another life, I was an advertising photographer and still like to take the occasional photo when the mood takes me. I've always been an enthusiastic user of Nikon cameras, but have no nostalgia for the days of film and using smelly chemicals in the dark, so am a committed fan of digital these days.

A big welcome to the forum buddy. Sounds to me like you'd be someone who'd be great at taking the ol' Gunography (TM - Wild Bill, lol) pictures, looking forward to seeing some of your 1911. What are your interests ? Revolvers, autos, rifles, smgs or a mixture of them all ? We're a friendly bunch of guys on here but we are well known for depleting our bank accounts and savings in the name of all things replica airgun related, lol. So I warn you, being a member here is liable to hurt you financially,

My replica interest is really just in pistols, although if I was better placed financially it would grow to other areas!

Welcome Stephen.
One of the great things about this forum is the members' willingness to share their knowledge and expertise when it comes to all things replica.
And if you're looking to re-setablish a collection keep an eye on the bargain basement section Members post links to sales ads which are at, you guessed it, bargain prices.
It's one of the things that make this forum such a great place, people helping other enthusiasts get what they're after without it costing the earth.

Welcome to the Forum. As said above it is not only a great place for information and ideas but also a superb source of new guns at sensible and realistic prices from genuine honest people who are more interested in the hobby than making a profit. As a hobby I would have to say that it is extremely addictive - I have only been in the forum for just over a couple of months and my collection has increased exponentially. I need to follow your lead and build up the skill set to start distressing and restoring one or two items at a time to protect my pension and savings.
