Welcome to the Forum. As said above it is not only a great place for information and ideas but also a superb source of new guns at sensible and realistic prices from genuine honest people who are more interested in the hobby than making a profit. As a hobby I would have to say that it is extremely addictive - I have only been in the forum for just over a couple of months and my collection has increased exponentially. I need to follow your lead and build up the skill set to start distressing and restoring one or two items at a time to protect my pension and savings. Thanks for the welcome! if you do start working on guns, if you're anything like me, you'll find it very satisfying. When I was in a position to buy new guns, guitars or whatever, I found that the excitement and novelty wore off quite quickly after purchase and you soon needed another 'hit' to make you feel that way again. In recent times, i've only bought inexpensive items that need a fair bit of TLC to bring them up to snuff. I've found that I get the most pleasure and satisfaction from the processes involved in doing so, although I'm no gunsmith, just a novice restorer. TBH, up until 12 months ago, I wouldn't have contemplated working on guns, as my area of 'expertise' was guitars, but I thought, 'nothing ventured/nothing gained,' so here I am, 1 Crosman 1377, 4 Webleys and 1 TFW 1911 later......however, 2 of the Webleys (now rust-free and nice & shiny!) have gone to new homes, as it's too extravagant for me to have duplicates of the same model. Must say, I've been really heartened by the friendly, warm reception I've received on here....very cheering! However, don't know how much that I'll be able to contribute as I certainly wont be buying and subsequently discussing many (if any!) additional replicas. I do hanker after a Gen4 Glock 4.5BB pistol though....

Good idea - I am just a couple of days back from a hip replacement and already going stir crazy so I will have a look for an old cheap springer of some sort that seems easy to work on but is still a replica so that I can use the undoubted talent in this forum for advice.
