Pellet name: H&N Excite Econ II Pellet weight: 7gn Pellet size: 4.50mm Shape: Wadcutter Material: Lead Price: £2.99 at JSR I'm just pellet testing again as I'm trying to find some cheap(er) pellets than R10 that I am using for shorter distance and plinking. Previously tested Econ I which was no good in my other guns in terms of group size (compared with R10 and Meisterkugeln). I tried some 10m testing with my SA-10, but the scope rail is a bit dodgy... ...so I did some 7m rested iron sights instead. Not too shabby as they say. 10m out will still be good enough for tin can killing, if that's your thing. For paper target I would still go for something more expensive. For 5m however, they are good enough for a 149 with the SA-10. I'll report back when I have tested these on my other guns.

These are great plinking pellets, I use these and the H&N Excite plinking pellets, if I'm being honest though once I've put thm through a pellet sizer (4.50mm or 4.52mm) there's not that much difference between them accuracy wise and the groupings are roughly equal in size too. H&N make some great quality cheap plinking pellets whilst RWS seem to have the target pellets market sown up (at least in terms of a replica CO2 handgun), is it a case of 'ze German engineering' ? As both companies are German, seem to be showing a trend here. I know that RWS are one of, if not, the oldest airgun projectile manufacturers in the world as they started off making the old 4.3mm/4.4mm lead bbs for the 'gallery' guns that were so common in the very early part of the 20th century.

My first encounter with the Excite range were the Hammer, Econ 1 and Plinking. None of them were that great from 10m... You might remember me posting about the accuracy of the 715 back in Nov 2020.
I shall test them out properly from 10m, revolver and scoped, and see if they are any good.

I am a big fan of these pellets, I use them for practice 10m precision to get my eye in before I put the competition cards up. My Browning Buckmark favours them too, even though it is very low powered and they are a little heavier than the RWS equivalents. Personally, I think the softer lead and consequent tighter fit of the skirt in the rifling helps a great deal.

Yep. My go to pellet too. The price helps though.

I must admit to favouring these good quality cheap pellets myself, I do size mine (4.50mm & 4.52mm) to improve on their 'shot to shot' consistency which really give very, very close to results that I get from the more expensive RWS MK 7grn pellets.
Definitely my favourite everyday plinking pellet and suitable for all of my revolvers.
I would advise stocking up on these pellets though, as I've noticed that European made pellet stocks do seem to be dwindling at the moment with a lot of pellets being out of stock with certain retailers and those that do have stock seem to be increasing their prices slightly every time I check their stock levels. Maybe it's just me being Euro-paranoid since Brexit but it does seem to be the way of things at the moment.

I am not a fan of the excite pellets. I have tried them in all my pistols but none seem to like them as much as Hobbies or my current go to pellet RWS Super H point. Pete

I'm a fan of Econ's because they fit my budget these days. So I'll make them work well for my plinkin fun. And they will always be better than Steel BB's.

Me too, they're remarkably good for the price ! Admittedly I run mine through various pellet sizers for my different guns but they are very consistent in use. I used to buy RWS MKs for accuracy but once I've resized the Econ IIs they perform just as well and are far cheaper, especially when you buy in bulk. They are definitely my 'go to' pellet

I do have a few tins of Hobby's and Geco's to work through and I tend to use them in my rifles and the Uzi 9mm. But for my pistols, I mostly use H&N Econs, hammers or plinking pellets coz they are cheap and make no difference when firing from the hip on the quick draw.
