My recently acquired Winnie is currently living in an oversize rifle bag that is doing it no favours, I am looking for ideas for a suitable storage and transport solution that doesn't cost half as much as the rifle itself. All the leather/canvas shotgun slips are too long by around 5 inches at best, the gun is just under 40 inches, so many of the bags in that range are tactical things that are about 2 inches too short anyway (story of my life). All the standard rigid cases are too big and bulky, for what is really quite a slender rifle. So, do I get an overly long slip and try to shorten it, or build myself a wooden case that is down to the minimum 'envelope' around the gun?
Or something else that I haven't got the imagination to think of?

Not so convenient for transporting to the range! 🤣 Ha! The title says storage, not transportation... I would go for the custom built range case personally

Maybe chamois leather lined with 'pleather' would work? Hmmmm. 🤔

I have been looking for something like this for years in the UK. No luck. But my box will have to do.
