Well pleased to say that Dan at Crawley Surplus sent one round to show me in .177 smoothbore and it’s fine, tight lock up and nice finish, so I brought it. 😁 That's nice to know that they're at least some good ones out there, lol

Suppose you have to ask for the person delivering to wait while you check it. With airsoft the shops often say check your purchase before accepting, but how many couriers will wait at your door while you unwrap the gun and look it over, the ones that come to me are usually in a desperate hurry to get to the next drop.

I am planning on de-chroming the ejector rod using my lathe and some emery paper prior to blueing it. As part of this I might machine a dimple on the end to give a bit more location at the front, not that it is bad on mine anyway. I have noticed that the sprung loaded plunger under the barrel only just touches the end of the rod, so can't be doing much anyway! So that will get some attention too... Just had another look at mine and you're right. There's nothing on the front of the rod for the plunger to locate in. I also noticed there's a lot of play where the rod goes through the crane. Easily rectified I'd imagine but for the high price of these it's a bit poor

Pi$$ poor really. I used to joke about the movement of the grips on the 586/686, but the overall quality of the German made airguns does outshine the current Far East offerings. The grip movement was a dead easy fix as well!

I'm puzzled. My m29 seems fine. No problems, seems solid. Love it's accuracy and how it feels in the hand.

Mine is okay too, it's just the inconsistent levels of quality that seem to be coming out of their factory.

My example is the airsoft version, apart from the placcy grips, it is equal in quality to my Dan Wesson 715.

So there must be something different on the non sloppy ones then? Is the spring loaded pin in the ejector rod housing actually holding the rod? It didn't really bother me before but it does now! Still waiting for my freebie from Umarex but I'm definitely going to have to sort it if it's the same.

Poor QC I think, look at the finish on the one that Shaun sent back, how did that pass examination.

Agree the 586/686 are reliable, but the shell loading, cylinder rotating 29/629, Dan Wesson’s etc are so much more realistic.

I have both and like them for different reasons. The 586 for the slick lock-work, built quality and accuracy. The shell loading revolvers for the realistic operation and grin factor.
