Purcashed the Hudson recently, an interesting pistol, sadly the real steel ones are no longer made as the company when bust. Apparently their own fault, they designed and produced the pistol, which by all accounts was very good, expensive, but very well machined. They sold some and were taking orders for more, the pistol was all steel and came with 3 mags in a nice case. At a show they announced they were going to produce an alloy frame version, obviously lighter, and it would be cheaper. Guess what, people cancelled there orders for the all steel version and said I will wait for the alloy frame pistol. Company then couldn’t afford to start production of the new version, couldn’t get any more loans and folded. I don’t know how many steel versions actually got made. Shooting tests for the real steel found it shot low, and unfortunately the airsoft version is no different, in fact mine shot really low, so much so that I decided to part with it. It comes in 2 colours, tan and all black. I have seen a 2 tone one on YouTube, not sure if that was someone’s creation though. It’s designed to sit very low in the hand, to help with recoil, and despite the Glock type safety trigger in design, it’s very much a 1911 type trigger pull, and you have to place your finger in the centre of the trigger to actually fire the pistol. Takes getting use to, but works well, and is a nice trigger pull weight. If this wets your appetite, you will find many videos on YouTube of the real and airsoft versions.

It is definitely a unique pistol and has bags of character, I'm quite taken with the overall design and can see the logic behind the development for the real steel version. But with it shooting (really) low, I think that I'll have to rethink ownership, which is an absolute shame.
I remember watching the 'Gun Jesus' video that he released about the Hudson 9, definitely a case of keeping your mouth shut about future developments until after you've completed your backload of orders. Luckily (if I remember correctly) a company has stepped in to fill the gap for finishing off some of the guns that went back for repair, again I think it was the sub contractor that was making the slides for Hudson who I believe may have been one of the main creditors when Hudson went 'Kaput', so they received tooling, rights and boxes of parts in lieu of a full cash settlement.
I personally I'd like to think that we'll see more autos like this in the near future, as it was a genuinely good idea ! Just poorly marketed unfortunately.
Have you already sold it ? I would imagine that despite it's POA vs POI flaw it's a sort after gun for any serious collector of replica handguns, especially when it's one of those rarer one off types.

Actually, now I come to think about it I think Ian even did a video on the developmental stages of the design and the earlier prototypes that were made, I could be wrong but I'm sure that it was the Hudson 9.

Yes Ian did do a forgotten weapons on the Hudson, he had the 4 prototypes and the finished design. Yes it has sold, but sadly lost money as it didn’t appeal to many.

Very smart Doug. Cracking looking pistol. Thanks Andy, it is a nice pistol, think I would have preferred the black one though. Unfortunately as i said it shoots very low, I did try to get over this, adjusting hop-up, lighter weight bb’s, but it didn’t help. I can live with pistols shooting high, just adjusting my aim position, but on a regular LP15 I had to aim at practically the top of the card to get them in the black. It did group well though.

Now that has shocked me especially after watching a couple of online reviews on it, the accuracy test that I watched seemed pretty good at 45-50ft/10-15m but the trigger safety would take a little getting used to I suppose. Still they seem to out of stock at a lot of places so I'm not surprised that someone snapped it up if it was at a good price ! Fingers crossed for a 4.5mm CO2 version putting in an appearance, as I for one will add that to my collection in a heartbeat, especially the black version. (when I say my prayers to the CO2 Replica Gods tonight, I'm going to mention the 'Hudson 9', I've got a good relationship with them at the moment, they listened when I asked for a Chiappa Rhino and they even granted my desire for a S&W model 29, so fingers crossed for the Hudson, lol)

OTOH, let's hope your CO2 RepGods don't answer your prayers, they may have answered your prayers for the Chiappa, but I seem to recall it wasn't what you asked for ultimately?

But sometimes you've got to be careful what you wish for, lol. I still wouldn't part with mine though if I'm totally honest. But then again I'm a revolver nut, lol.
