This will be old news to some but I thought I would post, more from the point of you of the materials used. Basically although I did not want to make any alteration to my Webley MK VI the old peepers are struggling to differentiate the front sight from the target. This is especially the case if I'm shooting in poor lighting conditions. As such while in a department store near me I found they had a modellers section, generally for the gamers with their small action figures etc. and although they sold the Humbrol Enamel paints they seemed expensive and didn't have any suitable colours in, as such I opted for the paints shown below. They are water based Acrylic so I assume will not be as robust as Humbrol Enamel but i can always re-touch the sight if needed to freshen them up. Lovely job and a great paint choice. I use Vallejo in my scale modelling hobby and they stand up well to kicks and scuffs, especially the GAME colour, it’s designed to stand up to table top wargaming so it should do well on your sights. Nice photos too.
Edited to add:
Knocks, not kicks. i dont go round booting my models lol

Nice.
I take it that it is fairly "matt". I tried the same with gold/silver felt tip and nail varnish, and found it too reflective for my purpose. 🤷🏻♂️

Works well in and outdoors from what I've experienced so far though. I do get your point about shiny sight's though, I find it off putting shooting indoors with light reflecting from the top of the fore sight.

I use my wife's nail polish applied with a toothpick at the front sight when needed.

I'm going to move this thread to the "tips 'n' trix", as it's a great idea.

Most acrylic paints dry faster than enamels and can be removed easily with a damp cloth (when fresh) if you don't get it quite right .Once dry meths can be used to remove them if needed.
Cheers Don

Cheers Don Isopropyl is another good method of removing acrylic paint. I often use it in my scale modelling when I’ve botched up a paint job. Generally harmless to most plastics too from my experience although I’ve not tried it on all plastics so caution is always best.
