Ever since the last Christmas movies marathon (ho-ho-ho, now I have a machine gun) I have an itch for a classic Berretta 92. Classic as in clean lines - no rails, no extended barrels, safety in the right place, crescent moon trigger guard, etc. Unfortunately, I believe that rules out all Umarexes and KWC/Cyberguns (yes, I know there's the 92FS, but I like my replicas full metal, blowback, full size mag, preferably strippable...), and since I am not that keen on being chased around the woods by bloodthirsty teenagers it seems to leave me with only two options: ASG (KJWorks) X9 Classic and KLI M92. Both of these look suspiciously similar, though I understand KJWorks and KLI are separate manufacturers? The only bother is the extended mag, but I may be able to learn to live with it...
There are loads of reviews out there of all the Umarex Berettas, and Cybergun Tauruses, etc., but I only managed to find two reviews of the ASG, and none of the KLI, at least in languages I can understand. Of the two ASG reviews one was very positve, but the other one was quite the opposite , so here's my question - does anyone here have any experience with either of those replicas? I understand KLI is quite popular in the airsoft community? On a separate note - neither of the two have the Beretta branding, so another question - has anyone here tried laser etching or engraving branding on a replica? Thanks a bunch!

If you join the sportsmans association, you can get an defence to buy Airsoft pistols with out the need to shoot photocopier salesmen in camo.
I like my Umarex revolvermatic 92F gives me the Die Hard feel, but yes I'd like one with a functional slide. On the postive side for the umarex its pretty accurate with pellets.

I have the revolvermatic Beretta, excellent pistol , heavy, acurate and it seems quite powerfull. The picture shows the 2 Umarex's I own, the top one being an 8mm blank firer.

Personally I think that the closest that you'll get to the one you want (cw; full size drop free mag, field strip-able, blow back, all metal, etc.) is the Cybergun GSG PT92 and that has the frame mounted safety as well as the mag release button position change, which in both cases are upgrades to the original design anyway (IMHO). But it does tick quite a few of your boxes though (crescent moon trigger guard etc.). They're pretty cheap to get hold of and an awful lot of fun, very accurate (once you file the front sight down a tad) at 5-7m and what I would consider it to be the most underrated replica auto available. By contrast, I also owned the ASG X9 Classic and found it to be a very poor imitation of the Beretta as it lacked in accuracy, reliability, build quality and even the overall feel of the gun was a bit 'meh' in comparison to the PT-92. I think that you might need to spend a minute or two thinking about the PT-92 as a viable option rather than discounting it on the grounds that it's not a Beretta, basically a Taurus is a South American version of the Beretta with a couple of legitimate performance upgrades to the platform. I should point out that I'm predominantly a revolver type of guy so any auto that catches my interest has to be something quite special to be included into my collection and then (more importantly) stay in my collection.

A little geekery now, the Taurus is closer to the original beretta 92 first design, Brazil in 1974 licensed the pistol and kept the frame mounted safety through out the life of the PT92.
At Beretta the slide mounted safety came in with the 92S at LE request. Then 92SB with mag release moved to 1911 placement to compete in 1980’s US service pistol trials that lead to the 92F (adding the hooked triger guard). Final iteration came when after many thousands of rounds of SMG pressure 9mm the slides separated giving a few SEAL’s some unwanted dentistry. The 92FS was born it has a larger hammer pin that will capture the slide in the event it ever happens again.

Ha, I wonder if a role of Villager #2 in my community's group Christmas Carol production last year would qualify as historical re-enactment?...

To be honest, out of the two Umarex offerings I was more inclined to the M9A3, on the grounds of a nicer trigger guard (I know, I know... ) - has anyone tried to trim the extended threaded barrel? Is the inner barrel extended as well?

If it involved being in No Man’s Land and featured both Allied and German Soldiers with holstered Webley's and Lugers then possibly 😂

Oh yes, the Cybergun 92 is very high on my wish list (had missed a couple recently), but I was hoping for a good quality replica with no tool rail. Unfortunately your comments an the ASG confirm the not-so-positive review I found, so that's that. What about the KLI? Anyone here has any experience with Krown Land products in general, if not specifically the M92?
