Hi all, hope this is the correct section. I ordered an ASG branded rifled barrel, I'm in the process of fitting it. The barrel retainer needs to come off the old barrel at the cylinder end, it just pulls off, so that it can go on the new one. However, there's no way of keeping it in place so it just spins freely. As you can see in the images the old barrel has a notch machined around it's circumference that holds it in the retaining piece. The new one does not. I'm considering just gluing it onto the new barrel. I don't have the tools to machine the notch in. Would gluing be okay?

Personally I don't see that securing it into position (by glueing etc.) will be of any benefit, the muzzle end of the barrel should have a spring that applies pressure to keep the inner barrel pushed back towards the cylinder. The only time the whole unit will push forward (towards the muzzle) will be as the cylinder rotates and the 'forcing cone' will move in and out of the cylinder divots. I wouldn't glue it into place, I'd put it all back together and give the gun a quick dry fire, as long as the cylinder rotates and the inner barrel aligns itself correctly then all should be 'golden' buddy

Cheers mate, I'll put it back together as you suggest and give it a test fire tomorrow.

I just wrap ptfe plumber tape around the end of the barrel and push it back on, gives a good seal but is easily removed adjusted. Pete.
