Hello, I am seeking advice and knowledge of how I might lower the FPS of the 1895. I’ve seen stuff on maybe using the low power Dan Wesson shells but I’ve also learned the two aren’t compatible. I’ve also seen people taking a file to a small part holding the spring in the Dan Wesson (I don’t know the name of said part). I’m wondering if I could just take a small roll of fine sandpaper to the rings in the shells to lower resistance but I don’t want to much about with it’s accuracy too much. Any advice would be greatly appreciated!

The lower power shells for these revolvers merely have brass bushes inserted into the silicone pellet sleeves to reduce gas flow. Go do an r/c model shop and buy a length of suitable sized brass tubing, then cut 6 small pieces off , clean and install into your shells. Pete.

The 'power-down' shells for the DW715 have a reduced diameter bore and copying that would obviously help to reduce the FPS performance, I would (as flatrajectory stated) sleeve the inner bore of the cartridge with a suitably smaller tube. You can get brass tubes that fit inside each other (5mm to 4mm to 3mm, etc.), that way you could experiment to find the right level of 'neutering' needed to allow the gun to be suitable for skirmishing. Failing that you could just use stainless steel heavy weight 6mm BBs, they'll reduce the FPS enough to pass the field test, although I don't think that you'd make many friends at the next AS event, lol (That's a joke, DON'T do that.....)

Thanks! Do you think I could find said bushes at a hardware store or do I need to go to an RC store? Also, I’ve seen stuff about using green gas to reduce FPS, do you think that’d do well enough on its own or should I also modify the shells?

You can`t buy the bushes off the shelf. you have to make them from a length of brass tubing. If your pistol is co2 powered you can`t convert it to use green gas. You do not say which version/calibre yours is. ?? Pete.

I presume then you need to reduce the fps for the skirmish site you shoot at. The fps given in manual will have been using .20 grm bbs so try a heavier shot say .43 see the chronograph results.

I got a 12g refillable co2 cartridge with one of my second hand guns, I've never used it but i understand you can fill them up with green gas so that would lower your fps

So for reference and I should’ve said it earlier, this is for skirmishing yes. Sorry for the mistakenly omitted info.
