I have in my collection, an obviously early production Legends MP40. It is a lot of fully auto fun but has one design flaw that makes it less enjoyable. That is the magazine. The slide & spring that must be slid back to load the BBs has no latch back feature so it must be held back with one hand (or finger on one hand) while loading the BBs with the other. I believe the later production models had a notch meant to lock the slide & spring back while loading. Has anyone modified a magazine to be able to lock the slide & spring back? Does anyone know if a magazine from a later model will fit an earlier gun? Thanks.

You will need a Dremel type mini drill and assorted bits to do it though, A file will take you months .!!! Strip the magazine from either top or bottom and remove the spring and bb follower ( after marking where you notch will be needed). After cutting your notch, clean , test refit . simple. Pete.

I know a friend in the club made a simple tool to hold down the spring while filling. I think abasmajor (Brian) knows more about it, he may even have one.

I just bent a piece of thick wire to hold the magazine follower when reloading. Making notch with dremel is a good idea, I'll probably try it.

This is the simple wire MP40 magazine loading tool which can be useful when loading large capacity magazines like that of the MP40. Apologies for the quality of the associated sketch which was done without the aid of my reading glasses. Brian
