Having recently given a weathered finish to my Umarex Luger PO8, I decided to apply the same process to my Umarex Walther PPK S. The pistol comes new in a matt black finish which to my mind doesn’t look too representative of the live firearm. This all sprang from owning a “Battlefield Finish” Umarex MP40 which to my eyes looked so much better than the standard black finish. I have seen several factory applied aged finish replicas which have gone a bit too far from the used but not abused appearance I was looking to achieve. Obviously, this finish is more appropriate to older models than later ones where little steel is used in their manufacture anyway. Brian

That looks really nice ...i now have 3 of these ... if you have seen any of my replicas you will notice im a big fan of aging them ...
i think it adds to the look of the weapon and makes it look more authentic and realistic

I came across this YouTube video which suggested a quick way to achieve an overall worn, greyed steel appearance and then used the finest grade emery paper I could find to finish the smaller detailed parts. I was pleased to find that the material used to manufacture the metal parts of the gun would take cold blue well if you were to take things a bit too far with the abrading. The Magic Eraser also works well on leather holsters and I used that to age the holsters for both my Luger and the PPK. Brian
