The old adage 'if it's too good to be true it usually is' has kicked in today.
I recently got the 'bargain' cowboy rifle off the AGF for £150 delivered and it arrived today. Very well packaged, cosmetically superb, but leaking CO2 from the action end. It settles after a certain amount has escaped and then I can get about 10 good shots out of it (testing with single CO2 + empty).
I'm not going to badmouth the seller just yet as he is currently serving a temp ban on the AGF for something unrelated, so hasn't had chance to respond to my PM yet and he wont be back until the 31st.
But in preparation, I will prepare for the worst. I found this video on the Tube of someone undertaking a similar repair which looks like a good silicone oiling of the seals and re-assembly of the top valve unit. Also doesn't look to horrific apart from looking after that safety spring and being careful as always -
I was wondering if any other members had undertaken such a repair, and if the seals are not recoverable where they might be available for replacement?

Actually James, my very first Cowboy rifle had the same leak and I followed a guide on youtube. This was about 3 years ago. This model is quite easy to work on compared to the Ealther Winchester. Mine was leaking from the copper tube that wasn't sitting right. I disassembled it, used some pelgun oil and put it all back together and it worked a treat. But if this is my old one, it was working a treat before I sold it as I told you. But then again, it might not be my old one. But like I said though, they are easy to work on.

It seems to be a simple enough repair job buddy,

I enjoyed watching the video and about half way through it I thought 'that looks easier than I would have thought, I could do that' Two minutes later I thought 'no I bloody could not' Good luck

I think I will wait until the guy hopefully comes back to me on Monday when his ban is lifted. I don't want to start tinkering and give an excuse. If he offers no help or partial refund then I will crack on with it

I bought a used cowboy gun a few months ago for one hundred dollars Cdn, from a guy that was fed up with it leaking, and unwilling to try to fix it. I opened it up and found the leak was coming from the pipe leading into the valve. A slight tweak with the wench and hey presto, one working Winchester. Hopefully yours is as simple to repair.

Bit of a drama in the end, seems I was dealing with a known flipper/ con artist unbeknownst to myself. He was outed on the AGF as being a retuning ex-member called Claude - airgunforums.co.uk/threads/anyone-remember-claude.56904/He got a permanent ban off the back of this thread it would appear, and whilst he was taking an age to come back to me regarding returning the rifle seems to have taken this opportunity and emailed me saying he thinks I am a grass and am responsible for his banning (which is not true, never heard of this Claude member before). He therefore refuses to refund. Nice chap, hopefully Karma does its work.

That bloke needs a lesson but hopefully karma will catch up with him one day.
