I have just bought a walther winchester rifle off Brian (bb1975) and i must say, the build quality on this is really great It feels like a very solid and well put together rifle ....... It has a co2 leak that brian accounted for but a new seal kit should fix that. I really love the Winchester rifle and though this one is well made there are a few things that dont really sit straight with me in the design, i dont think anyone likes that huge butt pad which is one of the main ones also the plastic sights i have a few ideas on how to try and make this rifle a bit more true to the real steel and if they work out it should look as well as its built take a look at the pics below and see what you think..... The bottom pic is a mock up of what im going to try and make it look like

Really can't wait to see what you achieve with this Andy. As you say lovely build, but the plastic parts really let it down. If everything goes to plan you'll have the best looking (co2) Winchester around.

There was a stock end job done by someone on the UBC. It looked much better. It is something I keep looking at on mine, but not had the time to get on with it yet.

The butt stock on the walther winchester is a lot longer than the other 2 winchesters i own .... That and the fact it is a lot wider at the back makes the whole stock look out of prportion with the rest of the rifle to me ....ive cut about 12mm off the top edge of mine and re=profiled it the same as my shell eject version ... ive also shaved a bit off the width to make it thinner ... i will get it sanded tomorrow and take a few pics.

I have made a bit of progress on my Walther Winchester i have cut down , thinned out and re-profiled the rear stock , The photos show just how much longer and wider the Walther stock is compared to my old plastic shell eject stock. I used the plastic stock as a rough template and filed, sanded, sawed and sanded again the Walther stock til i got it as near as i could to it i also made a small extention peice to make the forestock longer . i still have to make a replacement for the ugly plastic butt pad but im waiting on sone wood. Im also waiting for some brass to make new front and rear sights from ... i have now discovered that the barrel band and forestock band are plastic so will need to make some brass replacements for those too..

Keeping a close eye on this one!
I toyed with the idea of using a single co2 adapter for mine so I could dispense with the butt pad altogether, but the low shot count would drive me mad. It also crossed my mind to see if there was a way to make some sort of bulk fill contraption that was shorter than an 88g bottle or the Walther adapter. Never got anyway with it though... 😕

I have had an eppiff .... appifffa ..... eppiffen ... oh sod it .... Ive had and idea
Ive had a word with a mate and we rekon between us we can concoct an octagonal barrel for me old Walther Winnie This will be made of aluminium rather than steel as is the loading tube i may insert a steel rod into the loading tube so as to make the two tubes match the origional weight of the steel ones this mod will be totally reversable so the origional parts can be reinstalled if we stuff it up lol
Ive already made the replacement loading tube which is 18mm diameter now as opposed to 16mm before. ive got to do one of my infamous fag packet drawings for the barrel and screw on end cap and we can commence from there .... still have a lot to do on this rifle so it will take a little time before its finished

Ive got quite a bit further on with the old Winnie .... The oak butt extention was a right pig to carve out (should have waited to get some beech) im happy with the way thinggs are going ..... just a few more "Little" jobs to do . im waiting for some proper brass screws for the top and bottom of the butt plate also in the process of making a copy of the butt extension screw out of brass, ive just recieved the brass plate i need to make the barrel and handguard bands and will make a brass rear sight elevator. The front sight is an adapted one off the shell eject model ... i did some measurements and hope the thing is still accurate .... if not then i will have to adapt and refit the original chunky plastic sights
