Hi folks. I tried to join last week but as usual with me I didn't read the home page properly and missed the fact that I have to introduce myself first. So here we go my names David, and I'm potty on 2 things the old West 1873 onwards and Boxer dogs I have just recently lost the girl that was my soulmate for 11+1/2 years so all I have left hobby-wise is my Umarex 1873 Colt Peacemaker saa .45 .177 Co2 which is unusual in as much as it is well built, sturdy, looks great and when you pick it up it feels like it's part of you. I originally asked the question about the gap on the hammer and had seen a video online to show that you can take the gap away by setting the hammer back to a notch behind where it would normally sit. I have managed to reseat the hammer but it looks to me that it is in a position that would constantly release the gas, has anyone tried this in the past if so what was the outcome? I know I should ask this in the forum questions area, sorry but that's me I'm afraid, trying to get everything done at once.
There you go I think I have explained the person that is me, as with a lot of my generation my obsession with the West started back in the 50s with tv shows such as The Cisco Kid, gunsmoke, wagon train, The Lone Ranger, Bonanza, Wyatt Erp, etc etc. I'll wait till the smoke clears, so I can see if I've hit what was trying to. Happy shooting boys + girls, keep those guns loaded but don't forget to keep the hammer on an empty chamber.

Welcome to our friendly replica corner of the internet. I have a severe passion for SAA’s and I agree about the empty chamber.

Welcome David and sorry for your loss. There's nothing like the love of a dog and for an animal that doesn't speak it's amazing how quiet home seems when they're gone. I hope your time here among like minded enthusiasts helps take your mind off her absence.

That's you all set now David, you've now got full access to the ' members only' sections (the 'Saloon' and the 'Bargain Basement'), feel free to have a 'mosey' around and post where ever you want. We're a friendly bunch of guys, so feel free to ask any questions you want and we'll do our very best to help you out. If you're wanting to post any photographs to the forum then your best bet is to have a picture hosting account with one of the many FREE websites that are available (Flickr, Postimage, imgbb, etc.), they'll give you a BBCode link to any of your pictures which you simply just 'paste' into your post. If you're needing any more information on posting pictures to the forum then go HEREAll that's left is to officially welcome you to the forum, so... Please be aware, this is STRICTLY a REPLICA airgun forum, We do not allow anything other than that on this forum apart from in the Saloon where you're free to speak about on any other topic. Please bear this in mind for all of your future posts, comments and threads. Any failure to follow this rule will lead to a warning, Jail time or even a permanent ban (and not necessarily in that order).

You might want to ask that question in the revolver section, here's a link.... co2-handguns.freeforums.net/board/3/discuss-replica-revolversIf you pop over to there and start a new thread asking the question about the SAA hammer I'm sure someone will help you out, unfortunately I haven't done that to mine so I can't comment but I'd be inclined to agree with you as when the hammer is all the way down it'll rest on the valve opener and release the gas but I'm sure that someone on here had the modification done to one of there Colts, I could be wrong...

Welcome David, I don't get all these guys on here with the western stuff (sorry!) I grew up watching Starsky and Hutch, so it's pretty much modern guns for me all the way, apart from my Stainless Steel Walther Winchester which I love... 😍

I grew up watching Starsky and Hutch, so it's pretty much modern guns for me all the way, apart from my Stainless Steel Walther Winchester which I love... 😍 I suppose I was lucky really, my favourite actor is Clint Eastwood, so I grew up watching westerns and modern cop movies so I have a love for all things shaped like a revolver whether that be old timey (western era), modern (20th century) or even the ultra modern (Chiappa Rhino). If it's shaped like a revolver, has a cartridge loading system and it's in God's calibre (.177) then I'm in ! Mind you I'd beg, steal & borrow to own a .44 Auto Mag replica..... One day, oh yes ! One day it will be mine......

Howdy David. I'm also sorry for your loss. I still talk to Mitch (my Lab Cross) who passed away about 10 years ago.
Just as a matter of interest (there's a reason I ask)....what part of the country do you live in. Some on here will know why I'm asking.
Enjoy the Forum.
