If anyone is experiencing a stripped out guide rod on any of these two guns, I came across this SS Upgrade Kit on EBay. A bit expensive, but made completely of SS, even the spring/screw. I just acquired a CP 88 Competition and although this isn't needed, I bought one as a back up just in case. He ships to UK. One comment on the video says he drilled out and re-tapped the stripped guide rod to 6/32 for almost no $$, so the choice is yours.

To avoid this all together, it's smart to simply hold your slide in your left hand, whilst pushing down on the release lever to help stop the slide from slamming forward. Ease the slide forward, reducing pressure on the guide rod and screw. I do this on all these 8 round rotary mag guns. (92FS / Colt Government1911 / CP 99....etc )
