Oh my flipping gawd ! What the actual fuck did he do to the right side of the gun ? Left it in a puddle of paint stripper ?
Great news about the magazine though, a repair that only costs you time is the cheapest repair you'll ever do, nice one !

The condition of that is shocking. Did you contact the seller about it, any response?
I think he's got a number of other guns up for sale, (Peter from Welwyn Garden City?).
I do hope he doesn't get a bunch of inquiries ,which are time consuming and distracting to answer, but ultimately come to nothing,

At least the magazine fix cost nothing ... the finish can be rectified at little cost ... i know its a pity about the lettering as it does look good but at least you will end up with a great useable pistol like isaid earlier .... send it to me for aging lol

Not going to grumble as it was very cheap. 😁

As long as you're not too disappointed, I still think it's a dirty trick though.
Did you end up buying a new magazine anyway?

Yes, no harm in having two, one in the back pocket, warming up the co2. 👍

Second magazine arrived. 😁 I have reluctantly come to the conclusion that the existing paint finish and lettering is too far gone to save, so I am trying to decide whether to get it refinished in an aged style, or go modern. My thinking at the moment is for the modern look, quite taken with the two-tone black and brushed silver that GSG do on one of their 22lr models. www.germansportguns.de/GSG-1911-Stainless-.22lr-HV-Selbstladepistole/411.00.86

Personally I'd be more inclined to go for an older weathered version, as that would involve a lot less swapping out of parts, it's either that or you go the whole 'hog' and go for something in the custom 1911 group, something individually unique. It's such a shame about losing the original paint job from the gun but if you're going to go down that route you might as well go the full nine yards and do something different, well that's always been my thinking anyway. Remember that I got a 1911 in a far worse condition than yours (c/w a broken hammer).... And look how that turned out in the end.... Not everyone's cup o' tea but hey I liked it and it sure looked better than it did

It was only the general appearance of the GSG, not a full-on replica, I quite like finish on the 'Colt Special Combat' (but not the pistol!). I have got some Hogue-style black rubber finger groove grips that I got for my HW45 before some walnut ones popped up as an option, so that is a consideration. I also have the original wooden HW45 grips that have a nice aged look to them, so that keeps making me think about going vintage style.
Oh such terrible choices to have to make...
