6mm replica’s are normally superior to the 4.5 versions in my experience, especially when you get to the high cost replicas. Doubt you will find an all steel 4.5. The sten looks fantastic.

Very nice, just needs a little ageing and weathering It's definitely an iconic side loading SMG, really don't see many of these anymore.

I am so glad i managed to get one of these ...... i looked on Northeast site and all the STEN models have discontinued next to them it would be a great pity if they have stopped making this fabulous replica

gunman1964 - I'm very happy that you're pleased. Check out www.sofmilitary.co.uk where you can find some nice accessories like covers and a pistol grip. The pistol grip is brilliant - it makes the Sten into a very small and manageable package. I still have a Canadian Branch Parkerised Sten which I will be hanging on to. I love NE stuff, the replicas that they make are the most accurate I have ever seen in both looks and materials - if you've never handled one you just don't know what you are missing. I don't have a deact Sten but I have examined my Uzi next to a dectivated one and they are absolutely equally well engineered. An interesting fact - even the cosmetic standard of the welding on different models of the NE Mk2's differs as per the originals, for example the Canadian produced guns had neater, dressed welds as opposed to the British guns which were produced by unskilled labour. I think that Northeast are a tiny company that makes batches of products, then move onto other things. I undertand that they are going to make a mini UZI later next year and I will be right at the front of the queue

I think expensive airsoft replica guns are far superior in build quality to .177 and 4.5mm airguns. No doubt about it. And that Sten is impressive indeed. But I still prefer to shoot lead and steel in my plinking and target shooting hobby. Each to their own.

The problem is, I don't like pot metal and sadly, most 177/4.5 replicas are made from it. Each to their own as you say

Not much of a fan of the zinc alloy most replicas are made of but unfortunately there arnt many steel ones and the steel kits (if you can get them) are too expensive. The only saving grace is that they can be made to look quite realistic and weather 4.5mm or 6mm they are fun to own and shoot. This STEN is in a different class as regards to build quality I have replicas that include a lot of different ammo types .... 4.5mm pellet, 4.5mm bb, 6mm bb, .43 T4E, 5.5mm pellet, 9mm blank all are very different and all are fun to own and all are fun to use

They are indeed all fun in their own way and we’re all very fortunate to have a choice of materials for both the gun and the ammo 😊
But I will say this, until you’ve cut a coke tin in half with a Mac 11 which dumps a 40 round mag in a second and a half, you’ve never lived!! 🤪

Anyhow, getting back to the point of this thread, I'm really pleased for gunman1964 . Maybe when the weather is better you can give us your opinions on the Sten shooting experience. The sights are somewhat rudimentary but I've found mine to be pretty accurate over my 12m range. I've been tempted to start 'weathering' mine, (they look great with battle scars) but I've resisted temptation so far.
