The spare part situation for our replicas are pretty dire, there's no after sales care and most times that you take a broken, out of warranty gun back to the RFD they'll invariably tell you that it's cheaper just to buy another one. Now this is not always an option, if the gun is no longer made then you're out of luck and you now are the proud owner of a very nice looking paperweight ! So getting hold of spare parts is an unfortunate dark side of our hobby that most of us fear to tread and eventually comes to all of us at one point or another even if it's just getting replacement CO2 seals and service kits.
I've noticed that over the years trying to track down replacement parts can be hard work, time consuming and in most cases fruitless BUT I have found some favoured places that I use as my 'go-to' for my first enquiries, so I thought that I would list them here in a sticky thread and anyone else that has found a good online resource can add to the list as well.
#1 - For general spares (service kits, seals, etc.) try....
www.airgunspares.com/umarex-airgun-models
They've got quite a selection and do have the 'odd' thing (valves, grips, etc.) that is not normally readily available.
#2 - Another one I use regularly is....
www.bullseyecountrysport.co.uk/
Predominantly an Airsoft site but they do carry 4.5mm replica spares from time to time and heck ! Some spares are freely interchangeable between AS and 4.5mm replicas anyhow. If it's showing out of stock, don't worry, drop them an email and ask them about a restocking date, they're helpful and seem to get stock in pretty regularly. They also seem to be the best cheap supplier for ASG spares (service kits, seals, springs, screws, CO2 seal screw rings, grips, valves, etc.) that I've found here in the UK.
NOTE - There are a plethora of AirSoft sites that do carry spares, so if the part you are looking for is interchangeable with an AS version then spend a bit of time trawling those sites too and some of the better ones do have a return policy that you could take advantage of if the part doesn't fit.
#3 - For Umarex spares then there's Dan at Crawley Supplies...
www.surplusstore.co.uk/
He seems to have an 'inside man' when it comes to Umarex spares and can very often get those 'hard to get' parts (Colt SAA cylinder hand comes to mind), but you will need the official Umarex part number for him to do his magic, if you give him the wrong PN he will get you the wrong part, so make sure that you have the correct information before contacting him. Now they can be expensive but if you're needing one part just to get your gun up & running again then the price is irrelevant really.
#4 - Obviously checking through eBay, Amazon and any other 'market place' websites can yield some results (as I can positively attest too) but that can be very time consuming and a bit demoralising at times but don't forget that you can set up a permanent search on eBay which will email you with the results of any possible matches. If it's a much loved gun and you're prepared to wait then ultimately that might be a feasible option in a long term approach for an incredibly hard to get part.
#5 - Finally, we do have a wanted section in this forum ! You never know, someone might just have the part you're after or have a broken version of the gun that they are prepared to either cannibalise or sell straight to you, if you don't ask you'll never know ! It may even get another member just to point you in the right direction to solve the issue, again if you don't ask you'll never know !
Hopefully the above five points will help anyone who's looking a broken part and doesn't know where to start looking, we've all done the google search and when nothing pops up we just resign ourselves by saying "oh well, I tried", but in truth there's a few places that can often yield results, if you just know where to look.
