As much as I like the luger it is a thirsty bloody pistol so yesterday I decided to sell it complete with my custom box. I was going to ask £110 posted. But my elsest son David (the autistic one) wanted to pick it up and handle it. He loves WW2 German stuff. He does not like shooting the guns though as it makes him feel very sick with anxiety and to be honest is not keen in shooting at all these days. But he loves the feel of these guns and has a couple of replica non shooting WW2 guns already including an MP40. The look on his face was just great when he was handling the Luger so I couldn't help it and had to give him the pistol. It is now on display in his bedroom along with his other WW2 German stuff. I think I'm going too soft in my old age.

Im sure your son will look after such a nice gift ... i think there is as much enjoyment to be had out of these replica airguns in just displaying them and handling them .. they are amazing pieces of engineering some more so than the real steel versions. i bet it looks great next to his MP40 .

That helmet could tell a tale or two if it was recovered from such a grim location...

That helmet could tell a tale or two if it was recovered from such a grim location... It came with a letter from the finder (a French dealer) detailing where exactly it was found along with other artifacts. I have been to the Falaise gap twice and when talking to the locals there, they still find the odd skull, helmet and equipment in the hedgerows. So I belive it Mark.

A real piece of history right there in that helmet Andy... i have always been fascinated by both world wars. my grandfather fought throughout ww1 being a member of the British expeditionary force he fought at the first battle of mons (which earnt him the mons star) he didn't leave France and get demobbed until sept 1919. My uncle served in ww2 in the Irish guards based in Africa i believe, i also had 2 uncles in the royal marines and another in the black watch. Quite a military lot ... not for me im afraid ... im a bit too unruly for it lol
