That's very useful information, 13mm will be fine, maximum o/d of 1/2 inch thread is 12.7mm. I will just need to fashion a collar to keep the die on-axis as the thread is cut.

I will have to work out how it all strips down buddy. 3 or 4 self tappers out the bottom and twist it off. The original barrel has a slope cut into it at the top. Shouldn't affect things as long as you don't try to put the grub screw there from a slip fit but may make threading it a bit of a pain at 13mm barrel diameter. Hi Luckey. I know how to take the fake moderator off, I was referring to the barrel. But Mark reckons I don't need to remove it now.

You may end up having to take the first 1/4" or so of the barrel off to get rid of the strange relief cut. I'd just do a slip on silencer!

There is no slip on silencer that achieves the look that I want though. It would be the easy option but I want the better look of a nice big silencer that slips over half the barrel and screws on. But for the moment I am enjoying shooting it as it is. Actually in the flesh I quite like the standard fake moderator.

Roughly how far into the moderator does the barrel go?

Yeah I was surprised. My initial plan was to just take the mock suppressor thing off assuming the barrel was longer and use it as is.
No chance of cocking one without something on the muzzle like a silencer or whatever. Don't pop yours off until you're changing, they get loose/sloppy when they've been off once or twice.
Interestingly the inside of the mock silencer is cone shaped so it's actually the complete opposite of what it purports to be.

This is from when I was trying to set mine up with open sights (actually quite easy but I never finished it) the front pin front sight is in line with the last few mm of the barrel. You can see it's an an angle due to that relief cut.

That must be very close to touching the plastic shell when you cock it!

Looks great, much better! 👍 Can you cock it without the silencer flexing?

Looks great, much better! 👍 Can you cock it without the silencer flexing? Yes, fully tested this afternoon. It even easier to cock now due to the leverage.

That must be very close to touching the plastic shell when you cock it! It was at first. Moved it up about 10mm and misses the plastic shell easy. This is it in it's final position with the moderator adaptor slid up another 10mm so that the mod clears the case on cocking.

This MP-7 is now in my possession, and I am glad I now have one to tinker with. My plan is to make it as close as possible to the set-up used by the MoD Police, who seem to be the only operators of this gun in the UK. www.wikiwand.com/en/Authorised_firearms_officer#Media/File:Armed_Police_(34317140495).jpgI am guessing that sight is an Aimpoint ML2, but the ( obsolete) Hawke Sport Dot is going to be near enough for me, if I can track one down...
