I really have a soft spot for spring air rifles and pistols and now that Umarex are giving us a bit more choice I decided to add another to my collection. The H&K MP7 break barrel. .177 full rifled barrel. I offered the seller what I thought was a reasonable price posted with the Red Dot sight etc and he accepted. Happy days. Nice weight to it, feels good in the shoulder. I decided to fit a nice Falcon 1-5x32 30mm scope with a Duplex Ret with single red dot in the centre. Suits it fine. Really looking forward to putting some lead down my garden range later this evening. It came with a nice little red dot sight (and a 1/2" silencer adaptor in case I want to screw a normal silencer on). But I quite like the styling of it in the flesh. There is some nice satisfaction learning to manage the recoil on a springer and getting good groupings. This now brings it to number 4 in my replica springer collection. I will take some better photos later but these quick ones will do for now.

Scoff all you like. I like it. One day though, if I get the chance to obtain a backdraft silencer I might change it. That is the only silencer I would fit to it.

Thinking about it I will need to get the barrel screw cut for 1/2" silencer. I want it to look like it is not fitted to an adaptor like Lucky's. Modski66 Mark, can you do that? Do your skills extend to that?

Do your skills extend to that? Possibly. I have got the right sized die, but to get the most accurate result it would be best to get the barrel in the lathe chuck, which would need the barrel removing from the action. The other limit on my lathe is the distance through the body of the lathe head; if the barrel is below a certain length, it won't poke out of the front end of the chuck. If you could measure the distance from the tip of the barrel to the point where it meets the breech block, I will measure the distance though my lathe. If it can't go in the lathe, it can still be done in a vice, but the circumcision might not be as accurate...

Just had another thought on how to keep the die on-axis with the barrel that would not require the lathe, all I need to know it the outside diameter of the barrel.

Now all I need is some guidance on stripping the thing down. But for now I am extremely happy with it. Just had a plinking session at 36ft (12 yds) just to zero them both in with their respective new sights. The MP7 took a few shots to zero and then was superb. Loosely rested on a bean bag. Same with the UZI with the red dot sight. That one took even less to zero considering it's a generic chines red dot sight I am quite impressed with the clarity of the 3 moa red or green dot. Very sharp and adjust with an allen key. Very good indeed. I will take some photos later because we have just been hit by a Thunderstorm here and it suddenly got very humid.

And I must say I enjoy the recoil on these nice little springers and neither of them have any noticeable twang. Just a sharp kick of recoil. Love it.

No need to strip down, but it would be easier to have the whole gun at some point when it's convenient. We are off to Wales on Saturday, so maybe we can organise something when we get back, or whenever you are ready. Sounds like you are enjoying using it right now! 😁

I will need to source a Backdraft silencer first.

I will have to work out how it all strips down buddy. 3 or 4 self tappers out the bottom and twist it off. The original barrel has a slope cut into it at the top. Shouldn't affect things as long as you don't try to put the grub screw there from a slip fit but may make threading it a bit of a pain at 13mm barrel diameter.
