Evening all.
As you may have seen from my post in the saloon I have just purchased a 'spares and repair' KWC Mini UZI 6mm. Whilst I bought this for the really nice hard case, I am now left with the gun, 2x magazines and various other bits and pieces that I don't know what to do with.
First off, I seem to have gone down a few research rabbit holes this evening with regards to the history of this 6mm version. Long story short I seem to have a very old V1 version with 1x V1 magazine fitted with a green gas conversion kit and 1x V2 magazine which is configured for standard CO2.
First test, I stuck a CO2 in the V2 magazine and tightened up. All good, holds the gas with no leaks at all. Stuck it in the pistol and it releases a burst of gas. No good, not safe. This model of UZI seems to lock back on last shot unlike the 4.5mm version, so not possible to dry fire it after that first shot off air that was released by the gun and not me. Safely (eye protection and aiming at test target) I loaded 10x 6mm BBs into the magazine and loaded into the gun. No release of gas this time. Stuck it in semi auto and cocked the gun. On firing, it goes full auto and continued to do so until the whole CO2 cart was emptied. It only actually shot a couple of BBs though. Reading up, it seems that V2 magazines are not fully compatible with V1 pistol. The release valve on the magazine does look a bit knackered though so I will retest it.
The other V1 magazine has a different release valve unit, there were 2x in the box with the gun but both leak when adding green gas. I took the valve from my 4.5mm magazine and installed in this mag and it holds gas. It also seems to shoot perfectly in the UZI but is low on power and I only get a handful of shots.
Next test is to put the 4.5mm valve in the V2 magazine and add another CO2 cart - hopefully it will work without going crazy!
Does anyone have any experience with these AS UZIs and their quirks as there seems to be much discussion online but it's all from years ago!
