Pellet name H&N Excite Hammer pellet weight 7.87 grainspellet size 4.50 mm Shape round head with ribbed skirt material lead Another of the "Excite" brand by H&N the Hammer is a round head pellet and excellent value. H&N Excite Hammer (1) by Don Farnworth, on Flickr H&N Excite Hammer (5) by Don Farnworth, on Flickr I've found these to perform really well, they fit into the rotary mags without sticking out and causing stoppages. I've used these in: Weihrauch HW45 Silver Star, Weihrauch HW40, Walther CP88, Crosman 1077, Weihrauch HW30, Schofield 1877 Revolver All 4.5mm calibre.

I normally order Excite Hammers, plinking and econ 2's in my bi-monthly ammo purchase. They are good pellets for what we do.

I’ve just bought a sackful of gas caps from JSR and whilst paying for postage I looked at the pellets and discovered H&N Excite Econ 2 at a really cheap price, so I stuck just a couple of tins on to try. The Econ 2s are flat heads as you all probably know, but these Excite hammer jobbies seem to be a cross between a flat head and a full dome pellet. I’m currently using flat head pellets in all my pistols, mainly MKs and Gekos plus odd tins of others such as these ecos 2 that have been bought to try. Now I’m thinking is anyone using domed pellets in their pistols. I once used some AA express out of my rifle range bag in my Beretta 92 and they were very accurate. I guess I’m asking if there is a difference in the accuracy of domed heads over flat heads, given that I’m only shooting at 6-7 yards. In the good old days way back when you could go to the gun club, I spent most of my time there shooting targets at 50 metres always using domed pellets mainly AAs. Light ones in my springers and heavier ones in my PCP.

I had a tin of Excite Econ which were the previous version and they shot well. Hopefully the redesign hasn't spoiled them! I had the occasional one set back in the rotary mags but I wasn't using a seating tool in those days. I use a 1/4" Jack plug for seating now: Umarex mag by Thorness, on Flickr Cheers Don
