So it is new gun day for me... the Glock 17 Gen 4.
It's taken me almost 2 years of replica buying before I finally managed to lay my hands on one of these. Glock in various guise are common sights in military and police as well as the movies.
This gun reminds me of the HK USP and S&W M&P 40 in my collection. And I like them both. I'm sure I'll get on ok with this one.
First impression is fairly good. Polymer frame, metal slides so that was good. I think I'm the last person on here to handle one, as they were launched quite a few years ago now.
Looks like full size ejection port. The barrel doesn't have a fake tilting barrel that is seen in other replicas like the CZ75 in Tanfoglio Gold/Limited Custom form.
And the safety switch is under the barrel.
It's a striker-fire system, so no hammer. And you will see on the magazine in a minute, there is no way to strike the "primer" along the bore axis. The valve switch is about 1/3 way down from the top. That may well be the only thing that is "wrong" with this gun, so far.
And as you have seen by now, it can be field stripped.
The barrel consist of 3 parts, the smooth bore barrel, the barrel sleeve and the slide spring set.
A common themes when reading about one of these was that they tend to shoot low. What I wasn't aware of however was the presence of a hop-up system.
All the KWC blowback I own so far have fixed hop one. This one indeed is adjustable.
For those who don't know what it is, there is a small rubber grommet-like object that provide a backspin to the BBs, keeping it up in the air for longer, and therefore have a higher POI. This one does work.
Here is no hop up:
And here is the hop up winded up to the max:
I'll let you know what the POI is like when I find time to shoot it (tomorrow!).
Full size drop out mag, with the 18 holes (!) at the back to show you how filled the magazine is.
So is it empty now? Or have I got black ammo in it?
Oh yes, it's full...
Sight picture is good. I don't think I'll struggle much even if someone force me to shoot in iron sight only. The only complain is the fixed rearsight. I'm just hoping POA is close to POI.
And finally the trigger. It's not great to be very honest, but not terrible as it's light enough.
It is one of those double blade safety trigger, which works by the way, and does not affect the trigger pull weight.
Resting
1st stage is easy enough.
2nd stage is just a long creep into the break point
And here comes the creep
And the break was ok with no over travel.
So far so good. Let's just hope the group will match the looks!
