For fathers day i purchased a lovely Airsoft Kar98 off Flatrajectory [Pete]. Just wanted to know why some forums {not this one } treat anything airsoft as sort of inferior, This is the first airsoft weapon i have purchased and from what i can see it is an extremely well made and a VERY authentic looking piece of kit. i know there are cheap plastic airsoft guns on the market but there are also quality built authentic looking metal and wood ones too and if the quality of this one is anythig to go by i can see me looking at airsoft stuff a little closer from now on. BY the way Pete ive started to "age" the metalwork and sling , The origional finnish is proving to be a right "Bar Steward" to get off.

I use flitz polish to age guns, it’s a slow process but you can go to far very quickly with more abrasive products.

The answer to your question, especially on the AGF is that most people on there are into airguns and other firearms. Airsoft have their own forums and thousands of users. Me, well I personally prefer to shoot lead and steel rather than plastic balls. But each to their own. You are mainly concerned with collecting and modding replicas and not actually using them so calibre and type are not so important. You do whatever you want to do. We had an uphill battle on the AGF just because we like replica airguns. Hence this forum.

This is a fair forum with sections for many different types of airguns ... for me it doesnt matter if it uses air or co2 or green gas as long as i can hit a tin can or a target at a reasonable distance its all good fun . I will be shooting again soon .

The truth is that irrespective of whether you shoot, collect or just love to tinker this forum is dedicated to all things relating to 'replica guns', I think that we are a large all encompassing forum dedicated to our mutual hobby and personally I don't care whether other members shoot, collect, fondle or fettle as we all have a common interest in the same subject.
Unfortunately though Airgun snobbery does exist, it's what motivated me to start this forum in the first place, as a safe haven for fellow replica airgun enthusiasts to come together under a friendly umbrella that shelters us all from those that would look down their noses at us and also the 'drivel' that they spout.
Nobody here has to worry that other members are reading your posts and scoffing at you from behind the screen and belittling your genuine interest in the subject of airgun replicas which undeniably does happen on other less dedicated forums.

You can't beat a bit of Replica Gun Fondling. It's one of my favourite aspects of owning a replica. Oh and some Gunography™. If you haven't sat in your comfy chair fondling your weapon then there is something wrong with ya.

Hang on while i find my Derringer lol Not wanting to threadjack too badly on day one of signing up and irritating the locals but...
Just a funny comment or is/was there an aigun Derringer out there?
I know of airsoft versions, I heard about a Brocock TAC (homemade...?) but I have a vague plan and .177bb would work better than 6 (or 8)mm bb.

Only 6mm airsoft as far as I am aware. This is the RIF section and we only discuss AS replicas in here 😀 Be nice if their was a 4.5 mm version though.

Just getting to grips with the foibles of the sites etiquette, no offense intended.
Manufacturers seem to be putting out versions of prototypes in both airgun and airsoft with what seems just a modification of the basic platform.
Marushin did both a 6mm and 8mm (Maxi iirc) version of the Derringer - many moons ago.
