Hi
I know NOTHING about Airsoft and desperately need advice from the Airsoft community.
Im interested in an ARES AIRSOFT L1A1 SELF LOADING RIFLE AEG
They have good reviews but so did a Jawa 350 motorbike I brought new in 1975. It got overtaken by CB250 wet dreams and was the worst bike Ive owned?
Being the thick end of £500 I need to know what im getting into.
Are the electric gearboxes reliable?
Is it the end of the word if the motor/ gearbox brakes?
Can I fit original SLR woodwork onto one of these?

Ares are very well made , the L1A1 is a stunner....I have often lusted after one myself...very realistic . AEG gearboxes are easy to fix ...well I can anyway.... I would certainly buy one if I had the moolah. I do not know about the woodwork, but most probably would fit with a little fettling.
Pete.

Happy to travel miles. A few Salesmen in an RFD just say anything for a sale. A few tell you like it is. Owners give you the good bad

The Aries L1A1 has been out a long time now and I can`t recall ever hearing a bad word about it, or any Aries model. I used to skirmish so do have an idea.
It is VERY realistic, having used one on in my service career for inter service shoots.
Pete.

They are a bit expensive for a zamak receiver. Obviously if you're skirmishing you can run it as a DMR at some sites with no need to semi lock it because it is natively semi only.
I nearly bought one a few years ago but mag availability was spotty.
Ares stuff tends to be fairly decent overall.
