I better bring some balance to the threads in this section with my stuff.
So I'm a Gallery Rifle Shooter and shoot Long Barrel Pistol and Long Barrel Revolver. For our non-UK friends, the UK law is such that pistols and revolvers needs to have at least 12" of barrel and 24" in overall length.
This means that most normal looking holster doesn't work for me.
I can only use competition holsters, where the main design aim is to allow quick draw of the gun.
Candidate no.1:
My Chinese "Double Alpha Academy" Holster for my 1911.
Bought this from Wish.com. Can't remember how much I paid... probably about £35. Needed to buy the inserts for the specific gun for these, and that's another £20 I think. It was way cheaper than the original Double Alpha Academy version. Fits my GSG 1911 22LR just fine, and that's a standard 1911 frame.
You would have thought it would fit the Umarex Colt version, especially when it is a licensed product. Wrong!
Someone somewhere at Umarex needs to be sacked or demoted for this mistake. Unless older 1911 has different specs compared with the more "modern" gun, then a mistake has been made. The trigger guard is too thick. 9.3mm vs 11.3mm on the Umarex. It doesn't work on this, and it probably won't work on other holster utilising the same mechanism.
Quite sad. First time testing it tonight. Disappointed.
Candidate no 2:
My trusty Hogue Powerspeed Holster
The truly one size fits all holster. It's not cheap at about £100 ish posted via eBay seller if you can find one, or fly to the US when lockdown is over and get one there. This is what I use for my GR comp. This is what I use for 12 shots in 20secs including a reload using my Buckmark from 10 and 15m, getting 120/120 fairly consistently. If you have the cash, this is the one if you need a competition holster.
Fully adjustable
And no, I don't have shares in Hogue...
