A continuation to my Broomhandle adventure, I went ahead and bought a stock for it from AliExpress. Well, to my surprise, it arrived! Ordered on 21st Jan in the evening. Arrived 2nd Feb.

Cost me £40.56 including VAT.
The eagle eyes amongst you will have spotted a few dinks and scratches on the wood and leather. Does it add to the "period" look, or is that just poor quality, I'll let you be the judge.
And on the inside:
Again, some of you will have noticed that the title says C96 and not M712. Those who knows their history will know that C96 fires is semi-auto only, and has a top loading mag, while the M712 can fires in full auto, and has a box mag. All the CO2 versions out there are M712, and the box is made for C96. So to put the gun in, the magazine has to be removed. Otherwise and very nice fit.
I'll need to put some padding on the cover to prevent scratching on the back of the pistol.
Here it is with lid closed. Again, a few scratches on the wood.
And the most important part. Does it fit onto the pistol?
Yes it does, but with caveat.
The fit is not brilliant. There is a little play on it.
Stable enough to use, but I would be extra careful and not bend it too much. It is metal on metal, but why risk it?
Also the locking clip doesn't fit on the pistol, but it is stable enough to use.
And the leather strap though...
I mean, yes I can probably make the box myself, but I won't have the material or skill to make the leather straps etc.
And shooting it as a carbine... (magazine out as it was in another room; and excuse my lockdown dishevelled look)
Is it money well spent? I think the jury is still out on that.
Quality is not brilliant. The wood doesn't quite match the grip. The fitment between the stock and the pistol isn't perfect either.
However, for sheer fun factor and coolness, you really can't beat it! I can strip the varnish easily and dye the wood a bit darker to match the grip (or make a new grip but I am not skilful enough to make those grooves on a curve surface). I can make a groove to allow the gun to fit inside with the mag on, but it will ruin the look (and historically wrong). And I don't have the tools to make the slot to allow the stock and pistol to join.
Can't wait to test this out at 10m and see if I can get a better group now!
If this was £50 I would have serious reservation on buying it. For £40, why not!
