Hi a question for the tech minded. I have a second hand PPK and think its a bit feeble. Looked on you tube and some guy puts another short spring over the main spring and it does make it more positive and he says gives a better blowback. Another guy gets a lead bb and drops in in from the end of the barrel and yet on all his other bb guns that doesn't happen, he claims the barrel is a bit to sloppy (wide) for the bb. I haven't tried that as knowing my luck I would get it stuck. Any idea's?

I know our resident 'Technical advisor' ( Modski66) had one of these, maybe he can help you out buddy. I've not had one so can't reliably comment.

I had a problem on mine, but I can’t remember exactly what the symptoms were now, maybe bb’s not feeding, or possibly poor performance. The issue was around the silver coloured co2 nozzle at the front of the valve which is spring loaded; when the pistol is fired the blast of co2 pushes at the back of the nozzle pushing it forward where it ‘picks up’ a bb from the magazine shoves it into the breech and the remainder of the co2 sends it on its way. When the pressure has gone, the spring retracts the nozzle and allows the next bb to move to the top of the magazine. The nozzle has the thinnest of lips that the spring is seated against, because it was so thin, it had broken off preventing it working properly. ( German engineering, my arse!) I tried a different sized spring that located on a different feature, but I couldn’t make it work. Eventually I relented and spent the £25 for a new valve assembly, even though it was only one component that had failed. If I had had my lathe back then I would have probably tried to make a new part… Swapping the valve is a doddle though, remove the slide – (watch out for the small part and spring) in theory, you need to take the RH grip off to push the two location pins out, but there are other springs and bits for the safety which will pop out on you, so if you have a strong enough magnet, ( and the pins aren’t gummed up and stuck), you should be able to pull them out from the LHS. As for adding springs, all this does is make it harder for the co2 to push the blow-back unit backwards, eventually it will reach the point where it doesn’t have enough pressure left to re-cock the hammer. This happens anyway when the bulb is almost empty, but the extra spring will just make it happen sooner and reduce your shot-count. The gains in power would be marginal at best on such a short barrel, the pistol will just be dumping excess gas through the barrel and make more noise – which might make it sound more powerful… Whereabouts in Leicestershire are you?

Thanks for taking the time and effort to reply, Appreciate that.
Yesterday at the range I noticed it seems to be leaking, I purchased it from the range owner and know it wasn't leaking when I had a play with it 2 days before. He mentioned that the cold weather and the fact a full cartridge had vented will cool the gun down. He let it warm up put a cartridge in and it was OK. I have put 3 in today and all vented out. Seems to leak at the top end of the grips I am back up the range tomorrow so will get him to put a cartridge in to see what happens.
