I'm a relative noob to collecting but having a blast so far My collection is mostly pistols and revolvers of the modern era, but recently got the M1A1 SMG and it's great, a lovely replica, i'm adding some weight to the stock to bring it up nearer the real-deal and to stop the nasty hollow sound. I have on order an MP40 due in a week or so, I believe these are pretty accurate to the real ones ? I'm searching for an M712 Mauser but UK stock is at zero it seems What might I be looking at adding, in terms of quality and replication accuracy? The M1 Carbine in wood or the SMLE or some other? I'll probably end up with both in due course but.... Things are a bit more expensive in the rifles compared to pistols so need to tread a little more carefully

Have a peruse through the forum's porn section and see what takes you fancy, you can always ask questions directly from the owners then about any guns that take your fancy.... co2-handguns.freeforums.net/board/10/pistolThere's quite a few guns in there, lol. And like I said any of the owners (who've posted the pictures) will be more than willing to answer any questions (we all love to talk about our guns, lol), so feel free to fire away. There's also quite a few reviews of certain guns held on this forum too, just search for 'XXXX ( what ever gun you fancy) review' and hopefully a review will have been done and you can read more about it from there.

I think between the regulars on the forum, we probably own close to 90% of the replicas air guns that was released in the last 10 years. Probably.
What you decide to add to your collection is of course a personal decision. Are you going for a theme/time period in history? Or decent accuracy (for a replica)? Or just different type of actions?

I think a bit of both - I would prefer to stick to late 1930's to late 1990's - that sort of era, a lot of the newer stuff seems all too similar I think? Pretty certain my gathering so far falls within that range, i hope

Much as I tell myself I have little interest in collecting Western replica’s, I have to admit the Schofield is calling to me

I know you stated you didn't want or like Western replicas but I'll bet once you have picked one up you mind would be changed Dave. No no no no But seriously no I really need to focus myself on a certain era I think, the field is just too wide otherwise. They do look good though and I really like your presentation cases, real devotion there.

They look great, what materials do you use for the internal dividers and cover?

I use stiff cardboard cut to shape.

I love what you have achieved with your gun cases and it has encouraged me to have a go. I like the tip about using stiff cardboard as I would have spent ages trying to shape and fix pieces of wood. Am I correct in thinking that I should use wood glue to attach the felt and then stick down the dividers. I really like the bits of brass and metal work on the outside - do you have a good supplier or source. I presume the cartridge boxes could be made around an old match box or any type of cardboard container - is there a source of down loadable printable materials that I could then age with tea. Any other advice would be good as I have already bought an old cutlery box and ripped out its innards ready to start work (it is bigger than I thought so will take 2 pistols) I should probably have asked first - are there any threads already out there with the answers and guidance I am looking for.
Thanks Doug

Thanks Doug I use self adhesive felt Doug. I buy all the stuff off Ebay. Yes I have done cartridge boxes with old matchboxes. I use wood glue or bostik to glue my deviders into place. I think there is a thread somewhere on here showing that. Yes old cutlery boxes make great gun boxes. As for stuff you want to print off and age, just search on google images. I used a cutlery box for my Dirty Harry special.
