So here it is. My Taurus/KWC PT92.
The condition isn't bad at all I must say. The camera on the phone is rather high resolution, and is showing some blemishes that aren't as obvious with the naked eye.
And a full size mag.
Takedown is very easy. Push the button on the right hand side near the takedown lever, then rotate the takedown lever 90 degrees clockwise. The slide can now be removed by sliding it forward.
Now push the guide rod on the slide all the way to the front and hold it there under spring tension. The barrel can now be jiggled out from the centre of the slide. Once the barrel is out, the guide rod and spring can be removed.
What I love about it is probably the trigger. I thought my Tanfoglio Gold/Limited Custom trigger was good for a blowback. I think this one is even better. SA and DA both available (like the real thing). I have returned my trigger gauge to my friend, but using my trigger weight chart, I would say it's probably about 2-2.5lb trigger in SA, and about 4.5 to 5lb in DA. That's fairly decent for a "plinker".
Accuracy? Well...
It is shooting very low. And I mean very low...
This was 5m rested iron sight. You can see the beautiful grouping there, but about 3" too low! The worst thing is the sights are not adjustable. Now I personally prefer a gun shooting a bit high. At least that I can see what my planned POI is, adjust accordingly. More difficult to do when it is shooting low.
Sigh! It was all going so well. My only options were laser sight (it does have a small lower weaver rail) or something more drastic. ie filing the front sight.
Now zinc alloy, aka monkey metal, is very soft, and it is very easy to do too much. Also remember that to get my POI 3" higher at 5m, the angle change from front to rear sight will be miniscule. I had to take it carefully and slowly. 5 shots, file a bit, 5 shots, file a bit more, and so on. Also have to remember where I might be with the CO2 level. Obvious drop in POI towards the last few shots. Got there eventually...
Just need to find my black permanent marker now.
This is 10 shots, weaver, 5m. 3 stray shots which was me trying too hard (and snatching the trigger). POA was dead on.
Mightily impressed with that!
My only "complain", and nitpicking a bit here, is the KWC logo. Alright, if it was a Taurus licensed product (or the Beretta M9A3 variant), it would have been so much more expensive. The pistol is still instantly recognisable, even without the Taurus/Beretta branding. People who knows a bit about guns will "know" it is a Beretta 92, but those who knows more will recognise that lever near the grip from the Taurus version...
...yes, the full auto switch. Being UK spec, the switch is "disabled"... and I'll leave it at that for now. 🤐
My verdict: Probably my favourite pistol so far. Better than my Tanfoglio Limited Custom. Nice trigger, nice group, it was just the non-adjustable sights that lets the PT92 down. The Tanfoglio would have been the best if it would group tighter like the Beretta. Oh well.
