This is the first pistol I own that uses gas as the propellant all my others being Co2 powered. I was a little sceptical about buying one. I have been left pleasantly surprised though with this first test. I used Nuprol 4.0 Black Gas which is meant to be more powerful than green and not to be used with pistols with plastic slides and innards. my FNX-45 has a metal slide and most of the innards are also metal so with a try. The following Chrono results are frankly more than I expected. The gas bottle was 18 degC and the ambient temperature was 16.5 degC so well within the safety limits for this Black Gas. Test was carried out using ASG Blaster .20 6mm BB’s. Each shot was taken with a time delay of between 6 and 10 secs except when reloading the magazine with 25 new bb’s After filling the magazine I shot 125 times without a gas refill and in the end stopped. There was still gas in the mag and more shots still available. Mag 1 gave max 341, min 319 and average 333. Mag 2 gave max 318, min 303 with the average now 320. Mag 3 gave max 304, min 295 with the average now 313. Mag 4 gave max 299, min 293 with the average now 309. Mag 5 gave max 298, did not go below 290 until shot 113 and was still 255 at shot 125. The consistency between shots 26 and 100 is very good 318 to 293. Overall I am left fairly impressed with the shot outcome with my first foray into gas all be it Black and the pistol achieved Cybergun’s claim. I still have to carry out a test using more standard gas. On all mags the slide blow back was strong and firm even to when I stopped shooting at 125. MAG 1 MAG 4

The consistency of the fps is the most important factor (well, that I've found anyway) as it has such a huge bearing on accuracy and those results are darned consistent ! A gradual drop is to be expected but that gun is almost linear in it's results, far better than I expected too. Just out of curiosity what was the Joules or FPE results ? As that could be used more accurately as a comparison against any CO2 powered 4.5mm BB auto. (I've just checked - 333fps (average for your first mag) with a .20 gram BB = 1.03J or 0.75fpe) Well, that turns out to just a little less than the average I get for my KWC 1911s (1.19J or 0.88fpe) but quite a bit less than I get for my H&K USP (1.75J or 1.29fpe) but when you consider the shot count (FNX45 125 vs 60 for the USP) that's where the difference really lies. So, it's a bit ' swings and roundabouts' really, what you lose in one hand you definitely gain in the other. For skirmishing needs, it really fits the bill (approx' 1J output and 125 shot count), so it does exactly what it says on the tin, lol. I don't think that the (slightly) lower power levels detract from the gun at all though, it'll put holes in paper targets and certainly knock a tin round the garden for a bloody good while, lol. So it seems to be a good replica gun to me buddy. Your next test though has got to be the 10m and 20m outdoor distance shots, we've got to see how it fares at a distance (lower power combined with a lighter projectile)....gotta be done buddy

Very good results David. Although, in the interests of longevity I would not personally use black gas in any of my as pistols , metal or not. I find Nuprol 2 green gas to be perfectly sufficient for my needs ( plinking). I also prefer .25 gm bb in my pistols for better accuracy. I expect you know all this David. Pete.

I tend to use .20 up to 6 yards, and .25 for further. I use .30 in my revolvers and Deagle.
