It’s a shame it’s moved around so much, hopefully it’s still in good condition. What was it about it you weren’t keen on? I’ve read that the trigger is hard work

Good to know. If all I do is look at it, I’d feel happy enough

Good to know. If all I do is look at it, I’d feel happy enough It's a great double action shooting gun, what it loses in single action shooting it certainly makes up for in DA ! It's incredibly easy to stage the shot without going too far and pulling through, she's very comfortable in the hand and incredibly easy to target (point 'n' shoot) as it naturally seems to point where you want it to go. I think the original design of the Mateba showed some newer and fresher ideas when it comes to revolvers, luckily it was refined down and eventually distilled into the gorgeous Chiappa Rhino. It's a 'marmite' design of a gun but functionally it takes revolvers into the 21st Century with it's low bore axis, unusual grip angle and flatter profile cylinder for easier hip holster carry. What the Desert Eagle did for autos (rifle bolt system, a .50 cal bullet, etc.), the Rhino did for revolvers, funnily enough both guns are ones that all collectors and shooters have either a love or hate opinion of, lol. Sometimes going against the grain is futile and other times it breeds something quite special, a unique piece of handgun history, which in truth, no serious handgun collection, whether real or replica, should be without !

It sounds ideal for what I want, I’m a speed shooter, shooting off a timer more than precision shooter, if I hit the plate, or beer can, that’s a hit and adds 1 to my score.
so a fast to shoot, easy to bring to bear (bare?) revolver would be perfect. I’ve just seen that Solware is only 35 minutes from mine and they have 5em in stock, so I might make a trundle down and have a look

I don't know if anyone has had a chance to shoot the real steel version of these but I would imagine that the low bore axis must make them feel quite different in hand and not necessarily better as more of the recoil shock is going to be transmitted up your arm.

Don They're notorious for having a horizontal recoil straight back into your hand but they are quicker for successive shoots because of the reduced muzzle flip that you would otherwise get with any standard revolver. When you need to get shots off with a .357 magnum both accurately and quickly then this gun is a far better choice for an everyday carry, its better (imho) than carrying any other 5" revolver with a compensator fitted, especially if your life depended on it's overall speed and performance. I watched 'Hobbs & Shaw' for the first time the other night (it's just landed on Netflix) and the Rock's character carries the .44 magnum version as his 'duty gun', he pulls it out early in the film when He, Jason Statham and the female MI-6 operative have a Mexican stand off in the film. If it's good enough for the Rock's character 'Hobbs' then it's good enough for me too !
