That should never have left the factory in that condition. I would not be a happy bunny if I’d received that. Agreed, it is very frustrating as the bottom section is superb and I know it will look fantastic when fitted. To alleviate the gloom at least my second mag just turned up from Vector Air

Heard back from Richard @ Bagnall & Kirkwood straight away which is good. He is going to chat with the manufacturers on Monday to see if they can sort a direct replacement of the top section, but he made it clear that it would be sorted one way or another with a replacement, just looking for the quickest and easiest resolution on Monday.
Top marks so far 👍🏻

The crack might be "natural" but when it is in a finished product that's just not good enough.
Let's see what the retailer says. I think credit card company can help in these cases also. 🤷🏻♂️
🤞🏼

I will be receiving a new one tomorrow directly from the manufacturers. Not sure if they are replacing the lot or just the top section but as the colouring looks to be generic I'm not too fussed.
Lets see what tomorrow brings but I have to say the customer service from Bagnall & Kirkwood has been excellent!

Top marks to B&K, played a blinder sorting this out for me. The new stock arrived today and its bob on. Here she is in her new wood outfit These stocks are a bit of a faff to fit but once sorted it transforms the rifle, it feels amazing to handle now. I will add some of my notes about the strip and re-fit in the technical section under the link I posted last week. Once it's all done it really is a rock solid piece, none of the creaks and minor movements found with the synthetic wood stock. Next job, try HeadHunter method of blackening off that white warning message on the receiver followed by some period bits from SOF!

Assuming you didn't have to return the "broken" one, are you going to flog it off at a big discount? I'm sure someone will buy it (not me as I don't have a M1 anyway), with "buyer beware" attached of course.

It's a great club to be in 😁 I see you've successfully removed or darkened off that white writing Bill, what method did you go for?

Possible RIP to this rifle, few dry fires earlier to make sure it was all functioning and the action has come apart. Wont get time now to strip again and asses the damage but it doesn't look good

Wont get time now to strip again and asses the damage but it doesn't look good I know what has happened to your M1. It also happened to mine. The Red arrow points to the bolt which slots into a housing where the yellow arrow is pointing. It is easy to put back together. This happens sometime on dry firing. Poor design. I added a couple of washers to raise the bolt head (and used loctite) so it sits in the housing deeper. Have a look.

Holy cow, you've had no luck, guessing you got a Friday afternoon gun, gutted for you I would just get it swapped out now, not try and strip it; I know most of our reps are built out of chinesium, but expect better than the luck you've had with this. EDIT: Per Wild Bill, looks like a common issue - fingers crossed you can fix it good.

Thanks Andy, will take a look later on, got family round now for the City game but I'm itching to fix it. Where are the coloured arrows?
