Yes Andy I love using the LE but not had any acquaintance with the SLR.

I really don’t like any rifle that doesn’t have a traditional stock to be honest. I’ve never found modern military rifles comfortable to use and I was professionally taught on SA80 and AR15s. More like the SLR or Enfield 303 you mean David. I would dearly love a SLR replica as that was the first rifle I was taught to shoot, I love SLRs. We used to fuk about with other peoples gas plugs, we used to rotate them round by 180 degrees so that it defeated the gas piston, it kicked like a mule and you'd have to rack it after every shot, lol ! I was a lucky bugger though as I had one of the original wooden stock and furniture ones as my personal weapon (handy when you know the Armourer really well plus you had to be a class I Marksman to have the choice). I remember the SM shouting at people that carried it by the 'handbag' handle, lol, happy days..... Anyhow, I thought that CaptDAR would of done his training on a blackpowder rifle musket ? lol

I only served in the TA (Assault Pioneer attached to the 5th Royal Anglian Infantry), basic training, Operation Lionheart and out after three years, my civvy job forced me to move away from Peterborough (5th RA HQ) and I couldn't guarantee meeting the mandatory attendance needed to comply with TA regulations so I went on the 10 year reserve list. My younger brother went from Army Cadets to TA to full time soldier (Red Cap), but I decided that it wasn't for me though....it doesn't suit everyone. So your respect (although very nice) I really have not earned, that goes to the many other full time servicemen (and women) that have played their part in defending our frontiers around the world, like yourself, so I'll push that respect back onto you buddy and ' Thank you for your service'.

I have immense respect for anyone who puts their life on the line for their country, like many of you chaps. Occasionally I have had professional interactions with service personnel, and feel lucky to be able to help them in their work in some small way.

Oh yes I remember that. How nice it’d be to have a collection of these fine replicas on a rack to choose from depending on whats popped up in the garden.
Are you still thinking of getting a CO2 rifle? If so what would you choose and why?

You know me John. Stingy bastard! Wants everything on a shoestring budget. 🤦🏻♂️ This seems to be the cheapest replica CO2 rifle if new. To be honest I'm just waiting to see what comes up in the used market.

This thing looks like serious fun mate I feel like I’m 7 years old again every time I pick it up I’ve stuck all sorts of things on it now including a torch and grip lol. This is right up there with my Corgi Batmobile and Purple Raleigh Tomahawk bicycle from my childhood as far as fun goes

I found this related video quite interesting. It seems there’s different power output limitations depending on the importing country:

No, these are the same power where ever you buy one mate. My mate at the shooting club has one. His only does about 340 - 400 fps on a hot day when measured on my Alpha Chrony. You'd think with a longer barrel than a pistol they would be more powerful. It's all to do with the valving. You compare it with the Webley Nemesis x in .177 and that pushes out nearly 700 fps and in .22 it pushes out over 550 fps. All down to the valving I reckon. I actually quite like the new Nemesis X. It is not a replica though but for a cheap and tidy little Military looking carbine shooting at nearly 10ftlb, it would rip bean through cans for sure.

Thanks for the information Bill. I don’t know much at all about valves and power outputs. I haven’t even got a Chrony lol hoping to fix that soon. I’ve noticed I can shoot farther with the MPX than I can with a pistol in terms of point of aim/point of impact. There seems to be less drop off using the MPX than my S&W 686 using the same co2 capsules and pellets even though there’s only two inches difference in barrel lengths. Might just be me thinking that as I have a red dot on the MPX and iron sights on the 686. Anyhoo I’ll stop waffling. Hope you’re having a good day.
Ps I'll have a look at the rifles you mentioned. They sound good.
Edited to add:
I watched the video on the Nemesis rifles. They look great and I was surprised at the accuracy being so accurate too. A nice scope on one of those and I could pot anything from anywhere in my garden although the rifle I’m really after is the MCX. Same as the MPX but longer barrel. Mainly because I can swap mags and accessories between the two.

Hi John Your SIG MCX is desirable though. I have tried to get my mate to sell me is. But he wont. And yes I fancy the MPX too. Lovely looking guns. And great for plinking in the garden. Ideal in fact.
