Thank you for altering my access Bill I do intend to roam around the site but right now I am actually making notes of suppliers and the tips and tricks that you chaps get up to. Ifield the Colt may well be the gun involved... there are some very skilled engineers on here for sure, is Gunman lengthening the barrel to make the Colt Buntline? I will dig the novel out at some point and reread the description of the gun used by the Judge... it may have been black powder You are welcome. As for that Kurt Vonnegut novel, I have read a few of his books myself but never knew he did a western novel.

Reputed to be a Colt Dragoon - the magnum of its day. Among my Colts, replicas and originals, nestles an original and rare Dragoon.

Im lost for words regarding all your collections... simply stunning. I did always wonder what the pistol looked like and it does indeed look like it would stop a horse! Thank you again for sharing your pics and being so helpful, this forum has been so far massively different to the other two forums that I am a member of.

I do like the idea of a lead alike bullet, I may try that. Sorry this is a very long hello... I dont seem to have access anywhere else on the forum? Ican read but not post? Ifield your picof the Schofield looks different than others I have seen, is it shorter? It certainly looks very nice. You should have full access now Carl as I have altered your access rights. I just presumed that the boss man had already changed your permissions. (He must have forgot.) Ooops, how embarrassing

I do indeed own a 5" Schofield, it is a better balanced revolver in my opinion that the 7" version The Umarex Colt buntline is almost finished .... just need to make a set of walnut wood grips

I think you can now get or soon will be able to get a 5" Schofield revolver here in the UK. They are lovely revolvers and I love mine. It shoots ever so well and packs a punch too. But my favourite wstern revolver is my Colt SAA 7.5" NRA edition.

Be aware Carl, the Colt NRA version is very rare these days. (as are all the 7.5" versions) You might come across one secondhand somewhere. But you can't go wrong with a Schofield revolver. I only use pellet shells in my western revolvers. I never use Steel BB's.

Steel in a smooth bore is perfectly ok but in a rifled barrel is a no no as it will cause damage. We have all found though that using lead pellets with pellet shells in a smooth bore is far more accurate than bbs.
