I was asked by Shaun to make a quick thread on how to do the simple but effective vintage show ammo boxes. So here goes.
1) First of all, buy a box of Cooks matches (about 99p). 2) Then print off some easily available pictures of old vintage .45 cal (or whatever cal) from the internet. A quick google search with images easily finds what you need. 3) Then cut out the two main sides and the ends. 4) Then glue the printed out parts to the matchbox. I used a Pritstick. 5) Jobs a good un. All done. You can put a few co2 carts in the box if you like but mine are empty for display only.
Here is one I did today just for this thread.
Buy the matchbox:Print out the pics:
Do the ends of the box too with just some spare cut offs from the main pic:
Then it's all done. Here you go. I did this one in ten minutes. I will use it on a future project.

Brilliant stuff, as one may be receiving a Webley MKIV in the next couple of weeks , I wouldn’t mind having a go at a presentation box at some point.

It's given me a new idea actually. I might build a wild west saloon out of the matches.

Does anyone know the sizes of the original box? (Approximate will do).
I might have a go at making one from scratch along the lines of the one I did for my MKVI, and put some pictures up.

Someone on AGF did a great job of replicating a presentation box of a genuine MKIV a while back, oil bottle, cleaning rod the full works.

I made a 'Webley' box but the one your refering to I think is a real nice one made by Modski66. I'll tell you how good it is; it got a thumbs up from WB! It's superb.

I think I have answered my own question: if there are 50 in a rectangular box, that will be 5 rows of 10, the cartridge rim diameter is approx. 0.54 inches, so the box needs to be 2.7 x 5.4 inches, and the depth needs to be just under 1.5 inches.
