Over on AGF there is a friendly 10m comp (I don't know how friendly yet...) I dont normally target shoot but for a bit of fun I could probably shoot a target a month. Round 1 Feb Colt SAA I used RWS Supermag this time (I have excites Econ 2 and Geco Diabolo and of the three the RWS seemed most consistent(coupled with my shooting))
I thought here would be a good place to track my progress over the year, see if I improve if not acceptable please remove I wont be offended

Good shooting!
Some people are undoubtably excellent shots but take the "friendly" comp much too seriously, when it first started some of them were buying Steyr and Walther target pistol just to compete!
I've entered the AGF friendly comp a few times with various replicas and I think some folk were surprised that they can be quite good at 10m. As I was first to submit I was leading the CO2 category early in the month with a target shot using pellets from my M29.
Cheers Don

That's more than a good shot. I'm sure I can hit that card at 10m as long as you give me enough time and ammunition

Cheers Don Thanks Don, We both had a wayward shot, mine happened in the first six, I dont really shoot targets, looking forward to see if I can improve over the year. I did wonder how seriously some would take it, but I guess there cant be many "target" pistols in co2 thanks @iffield

Unfortunately there are some serious target pistols that are CO2 powered. I think they pre-date the introduction of PCPs.
I'm not sure I would be much better with a proper target pistol even if I had that sort of money to spend! Any way I want a gun that doesn't look like something from science fiction.
Cheers Don

So my March attempt wasn't much of an improvement... Found some free time in the sun at the weekend and had a much better attempt. They are paper targets and didn't hold up well, what GSM would be better for replica pistols?

Cheers Don Unfortunately in that those using them were not sticking to the spirit of the competition? Those CO2 target pistols are often dirt cheap on the Continent as no one has any use for them since PCP took over. I'm thinking about collecting them, but would never use them in a comp that was really intended for SAAs etc.

Your SAAs certainly cut lovely clean holes. What kind of FPS are you getting?

Use the right pellets and cardboard targets and you will get beautiful holes ๐ FPS will be around 340.

Having said that I think it is unlikely that any of our replicas are going to beat a proper "target" CO2 pstol. The only divisions for the pistols are by propulsion type- spring, SSP, PCP or CO2. Cheers Don

Cheers Don I thought it was a bit of fun, and something I could do in my garden as and when I have some free time to play, and it was a way up upping my post count on that forum with joining in the random arguments that seem to pop up far to often on there

Is the 340fps with the short or longer barrels (that is assuming there is a difference) I found mine groups better with a heavier pellet the supermag is 9.3gr (that's the heaviest I have bought so far) The gecco and econ are around 7gr I think I do need to find a good supplier for the card targets, all my local RFD's only do the paper version and my last attempt at 10m with the paper target doesn't look good which is a shame as its the best group I have got so far. Maybe I could try the paper targets at 6yrd (nearly 6 meters) and see if they are more useable

I get my cards from Amazon. The fps was the short barrel. Lost the long results. I only use JSB RS domed 7.33 at ranges of 20 yards+

Duct tape or masking tape on the in the centre on the back of the cards can help with getting cleaner holes. You can get the NSRA cards which give a nice clean hole in smaller quntities if you give them a ring, I got 400 in February for ยฃ25.10 including postage. Cheers Don
