The reason why I left is at "normal" size is because I find that I can't see the details well enough with reduced size photos. Best example are the disassembly guides on UBC. Great guides, shame I sometimes can't zoom in on bits that I want to see. Hence I wrote some of the guides that already available on there (and credit them in the process of course). And I don't have the money to buy a 43" Curved gaming monitor! I thought my 32" 75hz 1200 monitor was quite big already... (part of my 3-monitors setup) Oh you like old tech. Nothing wrong with that. But your pictures are too big in my opinion. But that is my opinion.

Just to reiterate that the Umarex Colt Python 6" in Polymer is the best budget pistol out there. Especially great for kids as it is light both in weight and trigger pull. No problem with accuracy either. Here's my first 100 with it. 5m weavers. H&N Excite Econ II. Note that the 10 ring on an ISSF target is smaller than on a 14cm target.

To be honest, I think all pistols can group like that from 5m. I reckon it's all down to the sighting aid used and the shooter's experience. I really have to concentrate on the front sight to group like that. Everything I have a bit more focus on the target the grouping widens to the 9 ring. Did I not post a 15m grouping previously? I'll have a look later (need to cook dinner!).

Here you are John. This is a round of a friendly league I shot over the winter. Starting and resting position is 45 degrees, in weaver stance. Left target is 15m, 12 shots in 2 mins including reload. Middle is 10m 1 shot in 2 seconds, 5 seconds interval, return to resting position between shots, 6 times. Reload then repeat, 12 shots total. Right is 7m, 2 shot in 3 seconds, 5 seconds interval, return to resting position between shots, 6 shots in total. 10 rings is 1.5" across, 2.75" tall. Both using RWS R10. I normally shoot scope with my guns, and it's only in the last few weeks that I am getting the hang of iron sights. Here's one of the match, same conditions, where I shot the 686 with iron (pre-epiphany!). So not too dissimilar to be fair. Polymer Colt is at least 60% cheaper at most retailers. Feels it too: I shot it right before I shot my DW715 6"this morning. The difference is stark... polymer Colt feels like a toy gun, but I soon got used to it. 686 is a real heavy weight, but too heavy for younger children. Colt is perfect weight, and very good accuracy for them.

A very informative post, thanks Adrian. Photos were great too as an illustrative reference. I’m a little wary of overusing my 686 as it’s discontinued and thinking about purchasing a polymer Colt for stress free run it into the ground plinking. It seems accurate enough to keep me happy and if I bust it, no harm done. One to bump up the wants list chart by a few places.
