I have the smoothbore long barrell'd M29 and with pellets I can shoot the hairs off a knats balls at 20 paces. That's how good they are. My Colts are all rifled barrells but I see no difference in accuracy. My Schofields are smoothbore too and they are pretty darn good.

After a SAA please, perfect world a 7.5” model but tbh a standard SAA is also great Matt I might be persuaded to part with my special edition Texas Ranger model. This one has a rifled barrel, pellet shells and holster. Boxed like new but it does command a higher price to a standard Colt SAA. PM me if interested mate.

I picked up this thread and went back to the start. Very interesting re the firing of pellets through a BB Colt SAA smoothbore.
Obviously I now have the Marshals edition mentioned early on in the thread and if I am reading correctly, I can fire both pellets and BB's from the same cartridges and probably expect improved accuracy from the pellets.
I had initially thought of buying some additional pellet shells for it but having read the comments it would seem that I would be better off sticking to extra BB shells which are able to take both - am I correct.
I am trying very hard not to keep looking at the last pics posted and failing miserably - love the holster and the box.

Although you can use both shells with pellets it’s still better to use the silver pellet ones.

I have a horrible feeling that there is only one practical answer - buy another SAA in pellet form and have a play around between them. It is probably likely that will happen as I had forgotten just how good these pistols feel in the hand. I spent a happy couple of hours last night watching old westerns and spinning the colt in my hand.

I am trying very hard not to keep looking at the last pics posted and failing miserably - love the holster and the box. I use them both (BB & Pellet) for firing pellets through, although I found that some of the BB shells do need reaming out (with a 4.50mm reamer) whereas the silver shells don't. It was the bullet end of the BB cartridges that could be restrictive and reduce the diameter of the pellet to below that of the internal bore of the barrel. So CaptDAR is quite correct in stating that the silver pellet versions are far better for using with pellets, that's unless you get a reamer (which are dirt cheap from China via ebay) and then you can use whatever cartridge you fancy buddy. For me, I don't shoot BBs through any of my cartridges so getting a pair of reamers for less than £5 was the perfect solution, especially as I have ' quite a lot' of cartridges of various types for various guns.
