I've been looking for a Broomhandle for a while. I was brought up in Hong Kong, and instead of watching the Western / Cowboy stuff on the box, I was watching Chinese period drama. The broomhandle features frequently on these as they were used in the early 1900s. These KWC ones (and the Umarex equivalent) are discountinued already, while only a few places in UK still have stock. I was lucky someone on AirgunBBS answered my Wanted ad.
First impression is good. Very weighty. All metal construction apart from the faux wood grip, which looks ok actually.
This is the UK version, so there is no full auto mode. There is a YouTube video of someone trying to put his (European version) back together... I can tell you now I won't be doing that any time soon! I have spotted how full auto might be enabled, but the actual mechanism for t is not available on the UK version.
"M" is semi-auto, and "R" is full auto mode. The switch is not linked to anything inside. (The mechanism for semi/full auto is on the right.)
Trigger is nice at 3.5lb. It has a nice 1st stage, and a very short 2nd stage, making it feeling much better than all the other pistols I have so far. :thumb: Is this a BB gun thing? (This is my first BB pistol)
Shooting it however is another story. Again, those of you who follow my threads would know I'm a target shooter, and have certain expectation with my guns. I tried it with some dust devil first as I was worried about ricochet. Yes, it will cycle and shoot it, but no, very big group. To be fair to it, it could be me. Mostly because I can't see the front sight!
This is a very small v notch. At the lowest setting, I can barely see the front sight blade. Even sticking some red PVC tape on the front blade (see first photo), I still really struggle. Putting the sight 1 notch up helps a bit, but it also shoot even higher! At neutral position it shoots about 3 inches higher from POA. Moving back to 10m doesn't help.
This was all due to a fairly wobbly barrel shroud. Tightening it up with an allen key seemed to fix the issue. Here is one grouping at 6m, 5 shots.
And here is an UBC target from the same distance. 10 shots in 15 sec ish
And 10m, weavers of course.
I was interested in the mechanism. The bolt grab a BB and load it into the breech. There is some kind of rubbery seal between the bolt and the barrel. Some kind of gas diversion system between the mag and the bolt.
The mag looks good. 18 rounds. Enough CO2 to shoot 3 mags (54 rounds) ish.
It may apparently develop a fault in the near future with the magazine catch wearing quickly. I don't see how at the moment, but we shall see.
For the money I paid, I am fairly happy with it. I don't plink, I only shoot target to score. From that point of view it is slightly disappointing. I think it is very much sight related however, and I shall see how I can fix that. The options are either filing down the front sight, widening the rear sight, or re-tape the barrel so it points downward a bit more. I don't know yet.
Next step is to investigate the above, and to get the box/stock from AliExpress. This may well be the first gun of my "iconic/historic" gun collection.
